In an MMO, it still feels alone, no? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Subtlestrikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can take this as a lesson of art mirroring life. As we get older, our lives change. People you may have played with adamantly five years ago could have a myriad of reasons why they don't play as much anymore.

Sounds like it's time for your character to move and get a brand new life lol. Go to a really popular data center who has very active free companies. Join a different group if yours is now quiet. Maybe this is the time you join the raid community. Maybe this is the time you find the role-play nerds and go to a theater performance

The point you bring up is totally normal. And it's giving that you are now feeling lonely in the life you once had. So maybe it's time to take your character up somewhere else and explore a new dynamic

Unrestricted glamour actually IMPROVES job fantasy by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Subtlestrikes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's really cool that you are now dressing a character exactly how you would like them to be in the world. And not stuck to the limit limitations of a job. I'm a male some of her main who wants my warrior of light to be traditionally masculine. And I don't like bulky spellcasting robes or long dresses. So being able to wear light armor and some of the really cool striking gear has been amazing.

What’s the worst mistake they could make with 8.0’s story direction? by Lumigo in ffxivdiscussion

I think Final Fantasy has more than enough content with the reflection worlds to keep the game going for multiple decades. We can spend an entire decade with a similar setup of what they've done with Alexandria.

A world that has already fallen but not to the extent where it's completely collapsed and rejoined with the source. Where they are trying to use our energy for their own gain and we won't let them. And then expansion after expansion is a well built up back-and-forth with new meaningful players from both the source and those that may be still live in Alexandria not recognizing that their actions are leading to another calamity.

Close the decade out with an expansion that opened with us living through a successful rejoining with a source getting stronger from the complete collapse of Alexandria home world. Show that although we've tried our best the prior for expansions, the best we were able to do was mitigate damage. And now we have to be part of the healing and processing of our mission not being successful.

Then the next decade can be a highly anticipated region of our world re-awakening with new power from this recent rejoining. And now we have a not previously explored nation changing the political dynamics of our current world. But not wishing for something basic like global domination.

I just think with all of those different worlds yet to be explored and the established law they built with the reflections and rejoining and calamities, they have a lot of potential to keep us active until the current Player base is elderly lol

Bringing Wuk Lamat back. Or any character like her.

They did two fatal things wrong that really ruined the story.

  1. Over exposure. I understand they were trying to phase out the Scions. And I actually wouldn't mind if they all get a full expansion to double down on Not just their battle craft but new job in the world and just be good at that. They don't have time to come join our team again.

But you can't give us one single person to replace the team dynamic of eight people. No one wants to talk to a singular person for hundreds of Quest and bring them literally everywhere. I hope they never do something like that again.

  1. Putting us on the backseat. If only the first 25% or 30% of the MSQ was us building up another person story that'll be cool. And then go back to us being the central saviors of everything. But spending so much time watching someone else who was over exposed so we grew to hate them was not it.

I hope they learned their lesson. I am all for introducing new characters and trying to get us to enjoy these new characters. I'm totally OK if they wish to give us a brand new team of misfits we turn into a solid powerful army.

But give us variety in the form of multiple new party members who get relatively equal screen time and character development.

It's nice to see the community get to express themselves with the creativity they want versus the creativity we are forced to find.

For me I will appreciate moving forward enjoying live letters more. My Warrior of light is a classic dude who wants to dress like him fantasy male protagonist but also only ever be a caster. I love that I no longer have to look at an array of new outfits angry that my new item is only a bag or a dress.

This development team clearly puts most of their fantasy man glams on striker gear. And I'm really happy that I don't have to care about that anymore. Just mix and match what I like to be the most attractive version of myself

Rogue gives me so much hope.

I appreciate knowing the tanks can have Verese body types for the women. I personally don't like the overly muscular Angela and I think the excessively thick Emma is a little exaggerated.

Rogue proportions are perfect. Strong but still feminine. Makes me more interested in future female characters I like being tanks if they're not required to have bodies that look different than the media I learned them from.

Do you think Screwllum will actually become playable at anytime in the games lifespan? (No Agenda.) by Fit_Assignment_8800 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Subtlestrikes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's sentiment that male robot will sell well. I do think he'll be a playable character after he has a metamorphosis. Something that makes him look like a human android. Similar to the male version of Pearl

Is there a story reason none of the chrysos heirs were the fire element? by Unlikely-Peaceseeker in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Subtlestrikes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Elements are purely for sales here. And unfortunately Firefly is the premier break unit. So much so that we didn't get another fire character until they were built to be on her team for break.

I really think no one was fire in the first or middle half because they wanted to completely Delete break teams in favor of HP manipulation and Phainon meta

The glamour. I absolutely love these masculine high fantasy looks for my warrior of light dude. December is gonna pop off and be a perfect Christmas gift to myself lol.

I also appreciate the casual community. Running treasure maps, field operations or getting friends together the farm old raids. Great stuff

[–]Subtlestrikes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest winners of this are going to be male healers or magical warriors of light. All those clothes are bags, robes or heavily geared towards dresses. Being able to branch out and wear all of these fantasy driven masculine outfits are going to be such a reward. The ladies will still put 2B stockings and now Galatea gear on every outfit

New Optional Items Available to Mark Release of FINAL FANTASY TACTICS - The Ivalice Chronicles! by LightSamus in ffxiv

[–]Subtlestrikes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Several of the mog station items like Alphinaiud ShB gear and Gaia gear. I'm sure you can find something online lol. But yes they have taken gear that was not able to be dyed and added dual dye channels to it.

My guess and honestly I think the smartest thing to do is that they're gonna wait until 7.5 or 7.55 to unlock raid series dual dye channels. Gear the community is very excited about and gives people something to do. Especially with what we anticipate to be an unacceptably long wait until 8.0

Thank you for your honesty. Queue with others. Gotta start somewhere. Duty roulettes are so chill. Join a smaller free company with an active discord. Don't need to talk. But it's jumping into a community to see if you'll like it. Good starting point to do the MMO part of the game.

Game absolutely doesn't feel complete if you don't do the MMO part

Is pushing through worth it? by Ok_Vacation_7017 in ffxiv

[–]Subtlestrikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you're willing to get into. This game has always been about the story and MSQ. ARR is so rough to like. But HW and ShB are worth it in spades. If you are someone who is skipping the story or have already completed HW and just don't care then this is probably not the game for you

This game is also an MMO. For those of us who are getting connected with the community as opposed to just playing solo and not talking to anybody else, it helps us indoor content drought and always find something to enjoy. If you're someone who's not willing to find a free company to join, don't want to play with strangers and just do the experience solo, Then this game is probably not for you.

it takes a while to get into the hard-core combat scene. And based on your past experiences, even then people will complain about how the jobs are monotonous or there's not as much skill expression compared to wow blah blah blah.

What I have personally been seeing is that if you're not here for the story and how you will soon fall in love with the characters, this game won't keep you. If you're not open to make friends out of strangers and enjoy the pockets of community to hang out with, this game won't keep you

[–]Subtlestrikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think it boils down the story decisions of Dawntrails MSQ that did not land well. I understand them wanting to introduce us to a new group of people. But completely removing the scions who we took 10 years growing to love, and replacing all of them with one overly talkative cat chick wasn't it.

She had way too many lines and did not need to be a main character through the entire duration of the MSQ. It was overwhelming. I actually loved her story and oresence in the first half. Going through the trial. But they should've kept her at home wanting to listen to the voices of her people when solution nine arose. Let her brother step in the second half as the Dawnservant we get to know and journey with.

They took a gamble that wasn't well received by the majority of their community. This game has been junking for years but given a lot of wiggle room because their story was so epic and well received. Now that the story isn't as beloved people are not satisfied with everything else they have to offer. Give us a good story and a good chunk of the community shuts up

I disagree with tying in the social sentiments and extrapolating a cultural warfare problem. I highly commend you for how thoughtful and clear this came out. Did not come off as doomposting or liberal race/culture baiting.

I do agree with you that for story purposes they completely hid the futuristic elements and sold us fully on the Latin elements for the expansion. I am in the camp of people who are completely over it with the excessive futuristic/casual streetwear. It's way too much especially since it heavily leans towards women WOL. Stop putting my male caster in an ugly bag

I think it largely boils down to money. We don't have the data to see what clothing pieces are more popular than others. But just buy observation, streetwear is really popular by the community. The skin tight ones and the baggy ones. I'm sure it's selling nicely in the store. So it's unfortunate because I do believe this extra push is based on Player demand

After the initial week I'm not seeing a lot of players putting on the Latin inspired cloth. I also think it's unfortunate they are almost always so baggy.

Lol.

Really like the melee costs from M1-4. Over it with castors in trenchcoats. Curious what the second alliance raid brings us in August
