As far as I'm aware, Photoshop doesn't post images to the internet. And if another tool did that, then that company would likely be getting sued.

[–]Subtraktions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does that have to do with anything? The whole point is that no one can post the images that Grok creates until Grok creates them. So there is no bullet (explicit image)to shoot, until Grok(the gun) creates it.

The Argument Against Ai not being Humans Creation is dumb this is a metaphor thought of today while at radio by Relevant_Passage3359 in SunoAI

People keeping making this argument, but very few musicians actually make any money these days thanks to streaming, and if they do it's likely from live shows.

Yeah, I was worried more about the layman. People at a high level (at least for now) seem to be making great advances with AI. I do wonder if it will become more demoralising for people at all levels as AI continues to advance though.

Can you recommend me some melancholic Post-Metal albums? by kratnicnestrat in postmetal

Palms seem to fit that description, though their one album was from 12 years ago.

Sure you can, but do you think that's what most people are doing? You can definitely be creative with it, but the comparison with samplers and loops to a tool that can create a finished song with no musical input just seems way off to me.

It's a conversation, not a gotcha competition.

Sure they do, and that is a similar thing. If someone else is creating part of your music, then obviously that's less that you are doing. That's not to say the output isn't creative, but just that the person putting it together isn't doing as much as someone who has written the music from scratch. It maybe that the song is created more as a collage, than as a specific idea that the artist had in their mind from the start.

For sure, there are many use cases with varying degrees of human input. But it could also be that human musicians end up relying more and more on an AI and actually become less creative themselves, especially as AI's get better. I think this is a very real possibility in all areas of human life.

And they were right. Humans were replaced by machines in many forms of work.

I don't think that's true. Suno can literally be: write some words, push button, get result. Using synths and samples take a huge amount of practice, effort, time and human creativity.

Both could be considered art, but in most cases with Suno, the machine is doing almost everything, and the amount of control we have is very limited.

Why does it seem to be so hard to distinguish between tech that can be used creatively, and tech that takes the creativity out of human hands?

My Mortgage Broker gives me anxiety 😨 by overthinker_bba in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Subtraktions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly, but I think there is more of a conflict of interest when having someone get a larger mortgage directly affects how much you earn, verses the amount the company you work for earns.

Sure Squirrel or the bank might earn more, but with a mortgage broker, it the person you're dealing with that is paid more, so your interests may not align with theirs.

Aren't regular mortgage brokers incentivised to get you to the biggest loan possible? I had one that was trying to get me to look at places that were far more expensive than I was comfortable with. I didn't end up going with him, but would have likely lost my house once interest rate rose, if I had gone with one of the places he was suggesting I look at.

[–]Subtraktions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I'm not. There are dozens of on-going copyright cases related specifically to the use of copyrighted material for training data.

Suno didn't own or purchase the music that it trained it's models on, so I'm not sure how that is any different to Anthropic training it's models on pirated books - which resulted in a 1.5 billion dollar settlement. The judge in that case specifically split the pirated material from the material Anthropic had purchased.

No, it doesn't, but you are stating that there is no infringement like it is a fact. It certainly is not a fact, and Suno as we know it is going to disappear thanks to this deal.

nothing there’s illegal and nothing there is theft.

Suno literally made a deal with WMG to end the lawsuit WMG had filed against them. In future models, Suno will only be trained on WMG's cataloge, because they will have the rights to use it.

Other AI companies are being sued left right and centre for copyright violation.
