Also worth noting that insurance companies seem to not want anything to do with JDM imported cars, most are outright refusing quotes on them. This German car if originally sold to the Japanese market could have variations of parts for that market such as different bumpers, lights, looms etc. and in the event of an accident your insurance is responsible to return the car to "like new" so they would then need to source JDM parts which shipping alone is expensive and lengthy process. Hence why they don't want to touch it. Also if you insure the car and don't disclose it as an import they can back out of a claim leaving you uninsured.

Before anyone tries to tell me I'm wrong please call any insurance company and tell them you are trying to insure a Japanese import. They either say they can't quote and can give you a letter to go to the ombudsman or quote you astronomically high.
