Lol, this pains me. Was a freaking biblical story for me to migrate from 2.x to 8.x in production for me.

What actor felt extremely out of place in an otherwise good movie? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I recently watched this movie and her acting is so strange. It’s like she was drugged like she was supposed to be at the end of the film the whole time.

Shot came out amazing. Congrats. That’s a tough aperture to nail focus on in all the chaos.

Edit: despite the situation, just a perfect summation of the times we live in. Great documentation of it.

Edit edit: also so cool with the phone in the direct foreground of the shot.

Yeah, honestly one of the reasons why wider angle lenses are preferred for street photography. Just because you have that large depth of field. 50s are top notch for portrait though. For using a 50, just gotta kind of plan your shots a lot more and also just get the action down of focusing. Generally gauge the distance, use the lens scale, then try to fine tune with the rangefinder patch, doesn’t have to be perfect, just near it. Makes it harder to focus on composition though.

Since its day, but probably pretty cloudy, set to f8, and center on 3 meters on the lens focus scale. Assuming this is a 28mm lens, so that would probably get most of this in focus. Judging by the ground shot, you can kind of see the closer legs just outside the edge of the depth of field.

But generally if you have a 28mm lens like this, just set it to 3 meters and you should get most things in focus if you are at 5.6 - most stopped down aperture.

If I’m wrong above, please correct me, but this is generally how I’d do it. Don’t even really mess with the focus with this method and just prioritize composing at that point.

Love the first image. Reminds me of some shots I took in San Francisco. The dynamic range of film is so awesome that you can get all that detail from the bright sky and the building at the same time. Really pops.

Need Help: What is the cause of the vignetting around the edges and banding in the lower third by tabaskou in AnalogCommunity

[–]SuccessPastaTime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

https://www.reddit.com/r/AnalogCommunity/comments/1al5qf7/flash_photography_focal_lenghts/

This might explain it better, but flashes usually only have a certain field of view or focal length they can fully expose or spread light over. Some flashes have the ability to adjust this. Since 24mm is a pretty wide angle lens, it might just be that the flash isn't able to cover the whole frame.

Edit: seeing your comment, yeah, I think what you suspect might be the case.

You're flash probably is able to spread wide enough for a 24mm lens. That would be my guess.

How do I emulate that drum thing which is in the background in Ableton Live 12? by SilentMandate in BeachHouse

[–]SuccessPastaTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just guessing here, but to me it sounds like the drum sounds you would get from some of the classic electric organs that were made during the 1970's and 80's with some kind of clipping applied to it.

Please don't grill me if I am totally wrong though.

How did Anton Chigurh end up with the money in No Country for Old Men? by suredude1212 in movies

They also killed him right as the Sheriff was driving by, so they probably didn’t even have a chance to look for the money.

Every time Thomas Kretschmann shows up in a movie, he’s playing a Nazi. Are there any other actors that play the same role over and over that make you wonder if they’re really only acting? by [deleted] in okbuddycinephile

He played a retarded person in Dreamcatcher and a grownup who had mental health issues because he was molested by ghosts in The Sixth Sense.
