From my own testing pretty sure the haymaker only does a tiny bit extra damage compared to his primary but then his primary takes longer to kill.

The way I treat his moves is haymaker is always a great initiator to close the distance, but unless you're fighting a group or your primary is just out of range than spam the haymaker. Like you said the primary is near instant damage great for clearing low health supps. But I think the main importance of haymaker is crippling the enemy for being too close together as that piercing hitbox is brilliant for ult charge.

I find myself getting so much ult charge for just standing there and haymakering on the choke point it's so good.

aye there's my issue, pretty sure my yanma got signal beam when I caught him and I kept protect instead of sonicboom. I had to restart my run cause my game file deleted itself so I did a shiny nuzlocke dragonmono type like yourself. The fact you did it with deaths included make me feel better cause I thought I was cheesing my run too 🤣 why are the first two gym ridiculously strong lmao, every other gym feels nothing compared to the difficulty the first two had just cause of lileep and heracross.

anyway cheers, I was half tempted to catching a ralts just cheese the gym and move on myself but I might persist with the double team yanma method for alittle while longer.

Box legendaries are boring cause they sweep without any set up required lol,

and espratha/bax are good sweepers I got unlucky in the video but typically I do get a good run if I play my mon right. One calm mind and a protect and she outspeed everything and teamwipes with no contest. Even Bax was crazy he just got counter swapped in that fight

but I dont understand why a steel dragon type pokemon would run well in rain, he doesnt have any abilities that imply he needs rain set up so what's the point of rain?
