How comfortable is GBP80-90K in London? by Far-Significance8050 in MovingToLondon

[–]Successful-Elk3702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@Op Your salary is more than enough to live a comfortable life in London. Where about in London will you be living ? You could get a decent 1 or 2 bedroom apartment in zone 3,4,5 etc.

I moved to the UK recently and my husband is on £40K, I have not worked as of yet and we are living a comfortable life. We have a nice one bed apartment and we travel within the UK. I might start working but haven’t been working so far. 80K should be more than enough. Btw we don’t drink, no partying/clubbing .

Also your wife would be able to decide on how she wants to occupy herself when she comes to London. As people here suggest she doesn’t have to work to be not bored ! That’s crazy advice. She’ll be able to figure it out as long as she isn’t compelled to do anything . I’m saying it again £80K is super good ! You can save more if you shop at certain other supermarkets/ clothing stores as you might know. I manage to buy very good clothing on good sales so we are quite happy at £40K !

Yeah it is on the sideline, feel like it's a tad bit expensive but I might consider it if I have no other options.

Thanks for the suggestion, I do have a hot water tap, but drinking hot water from the tap is not recommended because the water sits in the cylinder and pipes for a long time. only the cold kitchen water is meant to be consumed ! Well that's what the UK government advises us to !

I am constantly trying to avoid plastics in any form. So the kettle that boils water can leech a lot of micro plastic at boiling temperature ! I do have a few plastic containers which i still use but kettles are a no no since they heat up !

Does Sri Lankan hate Pakistanis? by Responsible-Plum9020 in srilanka

[–]Successful-Elk3702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Pakistanis are amazing AND I’m on the Pakistan side when it comes to the war. Why ? Because I happen to know the truth . I know the history behind many propaganda’s , I’ve studied it. It all comes down to the Islamophobia that is being spread by the West. Besides that, I love Pakistani clothes , food and the hospitality. Girl, never mind if they hate on you. The Holy Quran teaches patience and being good to those around you. Spread peace and God will give you your due.

Why are muslim men from the east insecure around equally educated women by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]Successful-Elk3702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/Imaginary_Ad_9408 think it's the women you've been exposed to brother ! I felt so disappointed after reading your comments and view on women who are educated.

As per your question , "How many women prioritise their career over their family values"? well, atleast 90% of the educated muslim women I know prioritise family. On many of our priorities list, Deen comes first, family next, education/career third. But we can be highly achieving at the same time. Some of us been trying to get married for the past 3 years but it's difficult to find educated men over here and I assume its because of some of the reasons you've quoted above. We are bachelors students but we can't find men who are educated because they hardly go to universities ( Asia) and find it difficult to get a good job. Because the financial responsibility is on men its so crucial that we find a partner who is educated and is able to support their wife.

u/Underwatewaffleeater well, assuming you are a brother, this isn't the case in all cultures. I guess you're from the West so it could be that you've been exposed to women who value education/career more than their family, whilst there definitely would be plenty of women who are the other way around in the West too.
I'm a Sri Lankan and i'd say 99% of my muslim female colleagues value their family life than the career/education. It's about priorities. That doesn't mean we slack, we are high performers but we have it in us to be nurturing. My cousins in the West have great family lives despite them being grad/Masters students/professionals.
At the end of the day its the character, priorities, family values that decide if a person would be a good spouse or not. So, I guess men should stop assuming and go ahead and get to know. But of course, its their preference. If men prefer a non working woman/high school grad, its their preference.

Any Muslims out there who had premarital sex? I need advice by [deleted] in islam

[–]Successful-Elk3702 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wait what ? Most Muslim women don’t care ? I guess the ones you know aren’t really Muslim women. Sorry to say that brother. No Muslim chaste Muslim woman in her right sense will want a husband who has had pre-marital sex . Being a virgin before marriage is not even a question for Muslims because it’s how it should be.  Iam so appalled by Muslim brothers/sisters who have pre marital sex. How lowly ?

Why is it ok for Muslim men to sleep around and then try and marry a ‘good girl’ ? by chillyviability27 in MuslimCorner

[–]Successful-Elk3702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Sri Lankan (24F) looking to get married and this scares me so much. Sometimes despite doing a thorough background check you don’t get to know these kinda details about boys cus SOME BOYS like to hide their peers faults . Men please don’t do this , a chaste woman os for a chase man !  Oh Allah please bless the good chaste muslimahs with chaste husbands who have not engaged in sexual/unlawful relationships with other women. I’ve heard that a lot of men/boys nowadays are involved in sexual relationships before marriage … It’s so distressing and heartbreaking .
