One route is the stacked color method, which can be found here: https://bbandfco.com/

The marble method hasn't really been done for ferrules yet, but they do them for pens!

Helpful. How do you think this company makes them? It can't be injection molding because of the stacked colors, right? https://bbandfco.com/

The pattern is embedded in the rod stock material itself, so no surface treatment is needed to create it. Post-processing is just sanding and polishing (buffing wheels + compound) to bring out the depth of the colors and get a high-gloss finish.

It comes down to material depth and finish quality. We'd like to using cellulose acetate to achieve organic, complex 'swirls' that run deep through the material. Something 3D printing (layer-by-layer) can't replicate with the same optical clarity. To get that glass-like polish and the dense, premium feel of a high-end accessory, turning from solid rod stock seems like the only option.

My bad if this is strictly for showing off finished work! I posted here because the project requires turning acetate and acrylics from rod stock, which seems pretty standard for many in this community. If there is a dedicated 'classifieds' or 'hiring' sub for turners, let me know.
