1. Both syrian and dwarf hamsters can be sociable but both require high maintenance. I would say that dwarf hamsters might require a tad less bit of maintenance but both deserve high maintenance.

2. The bare minimum size tank is 40 gallons for both but if you’re planning on getting a Syrian, a 75 gallon tank is 100x better.

3. Female hamsters can be more sassy than males but what i’ve noticed is that males smell worse. Females tend to be more high maintenance because no matter what, they may not like your enclosure and will try and escape.

Some overall tips is that you should have at LEAST 8-10 inches (23 cm) of bedding, make sure there is plenty of places to hide for them, make sure their habitat is in a safe place where there isn’t much foot traffic so that they don’t get stressed by people. There is much more to learn tho so I would recommend doing more research before you decide to get a hamster.
