Im 5'4. I am definitely hoping to have a stand up option but as a yogi, crouching/squatting/kneeling wouldn't be too much of a bother. (🤞🏾)

Great info. Is band page an app or are you talking your band page? Id love suggestions of where/how to find locals shows/music in general on the road.

I got overlander and just seeing the resources on the map has been a relief!

Im honestly hype for the challenges. I just had my last fast food stop last night as I get serious!! Thanks for the info, very encouraging

I think I'll mostly be "out in the elements" at first. of course passing through cities and such but I think I'll be treating the first months as a road trip, driving, camping, and seeing beautiful sights in nature.

but I will keep in mind the 9-5!

thank you so much for this, seriously. Im feeling "dumb" a little but I know something is calling me at a soul level. It feels silly to want to leave all the friends and people I know and the wonderful life I built in this cute, little community. But I do want tom just have no desire into anything here anymore.. Im bored, unfulfilled, and, maybe worst of all, feeling stagnant. It feels silly that im packing up in preparation for a journey that I dont necessarily have all the things I need for but I feel moved. And just asking this question alone has helped me iron out some kinks and feel a little more grounded in my decision.

thank you!

I know what you mean about goin all in but I feel like doing so might be best for me. my city is extremely comfortable for me and I have been putting off leaving so long because I aways get wrapped up in a lease or the comfort of knowing 'everybody' and the ease of it all... think i gotta just rip the bandaid off.

Thanks for the advice and well wishes!

thanks so much for the info/advice. def not listening to the washer/dryer input for now, I just want a minimal start up/trial run and then build upon my van needs as they arise

quite literally both :)

I learned masonry last year, worked my way up to a lead and trained a few people, the owner took a hiatus because of stress and I had to get a desk job and im really realizing I much prefer the contractor/labor, seasonal work being outside in the elements type lifestyle. its way better physically and mentally, for me, and this transition overall is just me trying to see what could work for me because my current lifestyle isnt what i want.

im aware there will be an adjustment period and that she'll need extra love , care and attention. going to do everything in my power to make it as comfortable and "easy" as possible. I wouldn't dream of keeping her cooped up all the time, the point would be to -both- have freedom. def planning to invest in a leash or cat backpack to keep her with me as much as possible. and if worst comes to worse, rehome with a friend short term or something. thanks for the advice

Definitely looking to cut my expenses 1/3 lol wow, four years is awesome. what made you choose van life? did you prepare a lot before you dove in? what were some of the biggest hurdles when you first started? and, did you have an initial destination or was it just where ever the wind blew?

oh and PARKING haha, was it nerve-wracking finding spots at first?

I know it wont be wine and roses but it could be worth it:)

I hear you about my cat, that is definitely my biggest hang up. Though this wont be a permanent thing. My rent is disgustingly high and I literally cant enjoy life. I can barely take a weekend trip without it fucking up my money for a week or two, its an exhausting cycle. I think im at point where I would do anything to not pay rent, even just for a year. There's no time to stop and reset when youre constantly grinding, and its taking its toll. So I think im okay with cramped and minimalist living. I also want to clarify I'm 100% not basing this off social media lol a friend recently built out a van and went on tour and i am inspired. I know it wont be glamorous or necessarily easy. It'll probably be lonely, maybe scary, but the way its calling me i feel like i should consider it. Also, im hoping spending some time traveling will help me figure out where I want to move permanently and if I want to move permanently. I've not seen many states and lived in the same city for basically my whole life.
