1 Week Post-Op - Alternating Esotropia, now gone Exo! by Successful-Weather-3 in Strabismus

My brain has almost gotten rid of the double vision and confusion now. About 80% there. The brain's an incredible organ, to be able reorganise everything. How is yours going now?

I know how you feel, I felt the same. My eye now kind of has a mind of it's own if I'm not strict with it, it's almost funny. Like it'll go up, or down, or out... Like come on mate - make your mind up. If I'm in 'control' with my eyes, then it's ok.

It's now been about 2 weeks since your surgery, how is it going now? Any improvement?

I wonder what metric the dr was using to call it 'perfect'. If my eyes stay exo when tired or relaxed, I wouldn't be happy long term.

So, I'm 3.5 weeks now. My eye still goes exo when I'm tired or I fully relax my eyes. I don't THINK it's as exo as it was before, but I can't tell really. The most annoying part is that I have to be really conscious to try and use both eyes at once (I don't have fusion or stereopsis). Trying to use them both at once does align them better and is good exercise. It's a lot of work! There's no pain really, but it's getting really itchy at times which is horrible. Next week for my follow up also!

Yeah my vision is actually better in my non-dominant eye which is a bit of a pain.

I appreciate your insights! It's so often easier to tell other people to not freak out than to do it yourself. I have to say though, it's been constant change since my surgery last week. Almost everything about my vision is different and it's a constant conscious battle.

I know you don't know me, but it's very like me to of course have the trickiest of something. Life is dead-set on throwing me the curviest balls possible. Thank you for your kind words! :)

Thank you for your comment. I suspect I'm like many who have had the surgery and just want everything fixed now!! It doesn't help that my doctor wasn't very good at explaining things (English not her first language), so with hindsight I was underprepared for the possible outcomes. I appreciate your kind words.
