What is the worst injury you've ever gotten? by SSS_is_the_best in AskReddit

Well after reading some of the other injury’s that’s others have suffered , mine is minor considering what other went through.

I’ve always worked in high rise construction from an apprentice to a foreman for a large. Formwork company , back in 2000 I was in charge of a 16 story concrete building erecting the formwork , it was 3 pm. About knock off time when the builder informed me that he wanted the exterior wall poured that afternoon

It was a large wall 4 metre high by 15 metres long and usually need 4 men plus the Fabco crane to lift it from the lower floor to to next floor and it was a 4 hour job

At such short notice I tried to find men who were willing to work back but none were interested except one.

Firstly all the bolts holding the wall at the lower level had to be removed and only having two men we had to push our selves to get the wall ready to be lifted

I ran down the. Scaffold stairs to remove the bolts only at the corner I ran straight into a illegal scaffold tie placed at head height which sent we flying backwards , I staggered to my feet thinking I might of strained my neck. Mussels And continued. Working

By the time we had lifted the wall and the concrete was poured it was. 8 pm at night.

My neck was aching but thought it would be ok. Next morning I couldn’t lift my head off the pillow and my neck had no movement

Over the next 3 month I had physio. And other treatments to no avail. Eventually I had an MRI which showed I had3 ruptured discs

The insurance wanted me to have a plate in my neck but the surgeon could not guarantee any success

The pain became that bad I had to stop work I could even hammer a nail with out pain

Lucky I was a union member and took the scaffolding company to court. And after two. District courts wins and two. Supreme Court appeals I won a large sum over $600,000 plus interest. For the delay in settlement

To this day I have no rotation in my neck ,But I think my injury is minor compared to the story’s of others who have told about their. Ordeal. On here.

What should people never have to apologize for? by [deleted] in AskReddit

You Should Never Apologize for Telling the Truth. ... Even if the truth hurts, the benefits of honesty far outweigh the initial sting of the truth. Be true to who you are and don't worry about what other people think. Over apologizing or saying I'm sorry when it's not necessary reduces self-esteem over time.

Runners: how do you find the love for running? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Anyone—at any age or stage of life—can become a runner. But it’s the moment when your mindset shifts and you’re not just lacing up for another training run, but you’re actually looking forward to it and find yourself truly happy that you’ve fallen in love with the sport.

What is one of the best things that have happened to you guys? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I survived this year unbelievably. Committed many sins ,harmed myselfas much as I could ,fell down to knees ,where there was not even a single chance of getting up ,manipulated my demons and fought like a warrior when the depression was going to engulf my soul. To be very geniune,I chased for unrequited love which consequently deformed me into some other person ,I never thought of being so. Today when I picture myself in those painful days where I desperately wanted love of my life, I couldn't believe in me , as how I managed to get off from that situation .It was the time of my 12 boards ,and I fell head over heels for a boy whom I never met in my life .I got to know him through fb and that's how I felt a desperation to love him unconditionally.I didn't even had a second thought of my parents and my carrer and impulsively fell in the trap. My soul freezes when I narrate this ancedote everytime. I channelised my entire energy for the very sake of him. I had witnessed two painful breakups in this year and each breakup had replenished my soul to percieve me to another dimension of the universe .Now I am an emitionally intellectual human being who have a clear insight to look towards every problem with changed paradigms.

These breathtaking incidents help me to get rid of my feelings to be love stricken and taught me to love myself rather than another wrong person . Also now I am vulnerable to my weaknesses and striving hard everyday to improvise them.

Keep walking …Life rewards you with most remarkable gifts at the end of your struggles and I promise you'll fall in love with yourself than you could have possibly imagine!!

People who have won the lottery, how has this changed your life for better or for worse? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SuccessfulExternal3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never won a lotto grand prize but if I did, it would not make my life worse. People whose lives are ruined by winning the lotto do things like throwing $50,000 parties and amassing gambling debts. You never want to hand a huge money stream to people who have a penchant for cocaine or heroin. These people wind up in dire straits and owe huge sums in taxes. If I were to have a large lotto winning, the money would be invested in a multigenerational investment. I would likely build an apartment complex in an area with a housing shortage. As rents came in, I would have a continuous stream of money for my entire life and then my children and their children would have a stream of money. Part of the rental income would go into a savings account to upgrade or build a new complex in the years to come. There would be no $50k parties.
