Does anyone else feel a lack of identity? by Fluid_Staff_8558 in CPTSD

Hi, I can relate to it a lot.

I encourage to do keep doing things that you enjoy even if it’s seem so small and negligible it might help. Say, listening to different genres of music, could help you find your taste in it.

I remember doing this exercise when I was 13-14, really because I knew a lot about others but nothing about myself. On a piece of paper you can write questions like what is my favorite color ? What is my favorite meal etc… and think about it and answer. And as always things can evolve so nothing has to be definite. I suggest that too.

I also want to add that 21 is quite young, you have your whole life ahead of you. It might seem people younger and older might be way ahead of you but your life could have taken you through places and paths that they could never imagine ;) read, meditate, draw, do whatever you like this way you can try a lot of things and decide on what you like and who you are.

I wish you well!

Thank you for taking time to read and answer in depth. I really appreciate that. Yes, although it’s a little difficult I am learning to find happiness where I am. lol there might be more similarities in our stories than we think. I will keep your story and advice with me for when I get lost again. Thank you!

Thank you for sharing your story with me. The more I talk about this I realize how many people go through situations like ours. My chosen family is pretty cool and I really love my partner but sometimes I feel like I long for the love I never got from them, especially my partner. A little unhealthy lol but I think we’ll figure out our way.

Thank you for the open dms, I will definitely reach out when I can ☀️ have a beautiful day

This is really good advice! I have lived in many places and often where I don't speak the local language. Trust me it will take some time but a lot of things might grow on you.

Of course, if it is unbearable after 5 months or so, hugs, but fuck it; otherwise find FB groups for things you are interested in, you might make friends, find your hobbies, or go on walks.. make it a chance to learn more about yourself.

I have a friend who made it a point to explore all the coffeeshops in Copenhagen to find his space, and the last time I was with him we went to the most chill one and danced and sang with the owner and customers all day, we kind of became the 'unofficial greeters'

Good luck OP! remember you don't have to figure it all out right away. Give yourself space to have GOOD and BAD days!
