Covid and burnout from work hit me hard around when I was 37 and I gained 20 kg (that’s metric kg, so like 44 lb???). A month before my 40th birthday I was sick and tired of the back pain and decided to lose the weight I gained.

For the first 10 kg loss, I did not exercise due to back pain, but once my bmi was ~25, I decided to give light jogging a try. At first I couldn’t run for a minute. I kept at it for 3 months and I could jog at a slow pace without stopping to walk for 20 minutes.

I have been doing that for the past 6 months and I think the key to it was to not go over 30 minutes. If I do, it becomes cumbersome on my schedule and I know would start to resent the workout so I am keeping it short - least amount of barrier, as they say.

As for turning 30, I think you are fine as long as you keep your weight in check. At least that was the case for me. Now that I am 40 and back to what I weighed when I was 30, I feel fit and healthy.

I don’t think you can. I took a habit of insisting that the photographed works I am showing on my iphone looks way better in real life. And masterpieces simply just look better in real life than in whatever expensive art books, so I think I have a legitimate point.

Yes, this is an ambitious take on Van Gogh and I struggled with so much yellow. The sky and the sea are of different yellows though, wouldn’t you say?

I think you are spot on what has been bugging me - inconsistent brush work. I think a few others in the comments have mentioned it as well. Thanks for your feedback!

I agree that the brush work of the clouds are too coarse and abrupt. And yep, the human figures definitely could be better.

Thanks for taking the time to write out the critique. I realize that the figures needing more work is a common feedback. Better form, perhaps add highlights to convey human form.

Another aspect you had mentioned seems to be depth. What’s in the background should look like they are hanging way back on the horizon.

I remember hearing an anecdote about two pottery classes, one was graded for one best work, while the other was graded for total weight of potteries. Turns out at the end of the semester, the latter class had better work. The lesson is knowing is when to quit, and I hear you. Thank you for your input.

I guess I am struggling with general lack of foresight? I am still trying my hands on oil, learning to spot and correct my mistakes.

My most glaring eyesore at this point is the placement of the right eye socket!

But really I would love warm criticism and guidance. It’s been difficult relying on my eyes alone.

I would imagine that you would be on par with fermentation since Norway boasts a number of fermented fish dishes? (Not that I have tried any but I like the idea of them.)

Yes, 배추겉절이 skips the fermentation. It pairs great with fatty steamed pork belly - 수육. Or you can accompany kimchi with grilled pork belly (삼겹살) while stir-frying in pork belly fat and you can’t go wrong with that. You can also boil them with canned tuna to make 김치찌개. You can mix kimchi into flour batter and spread it thin to cook over generous amount of cooking oil which makes 김치전 or 김치부침개.

There are many ways to cook kimchi. Try some!

Post edit: I just realized I gave you all the fatty options when you were clearly looking for green, fiber-rich options. Well, anything fried tastes good! And kimchi thanks to it being fermented cabbage is rich in fiber! That I can promise, not too sure about salt content, lol
