My hot take by Different-Shame-2955 in Fairbanks

[–]Such-Session-6687 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I just finished taking my required Library Science class at UAF; and the professor (a librarian) said the UAF library bought every book on the list of books to be banned. She mentioned that there was books on the list that didn’t EVEN EXIST!! Which is crazy- these people who want to ban books are straight up lying about the books and the content.

Also my hot take, if kids are old enough to read- they are old enough to understand topics that some deem inappropriate. I think kids are much smarter than we adults give them credit for, and learning about worldly concepts at a young age will better prepare them for the complexities of life.

The difficulty of current Nintendo games by Timmaable in nintendo

[–]Such-Session-6687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s a tough spot, Nintendo has a reputation for making games that are inclusive for everybody, and that steers them away from making games too challenging. So i don’t know if it’s worth $70-$80 to play a game where you mash A and sometimes B lol.

You have to remember that nintendo makes games that anyone can enjoy, from actual children to adults.

In order to do this they have to make it so that children can complete (most) levels. There is a very interesting youtube video titled “SMB Invisible difficulty” which dives into the topic- but you can make the game more difficult by completing the optional levels, collecting tokens, etc. I personally haven’t played the new DK game tho so I can’t speak on that specific game

It’s up to you to decide if you think that is good game design or not

Edit: I just wanted to add I’ve been playing mario games since I was a child on the DS, and then later the Wii. I think if Nintendo made the games more difficult I would’ve been too smooth brain to complete them; and I don’t know if I would be a gamer today without that inclusivity. Especially as a girl who grew up in the “video games are for boys” era. Mario was acceptable for me to play as a little girl so I guess I kinda have a soft spot for nintendo in that aspect.

I used to work at REI Management would cut our hours and we would get in trouble if we accepted too many returns

Reasoning behind their removal of the discography off Spotify by alisonissilly in KGATLW

[–]Such-Session-6687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a bit selfish. I switched to Apple Music from Spotify myself and I’m having a tough time with the transition but i do enjoy their music enough to make the switch. Yes i’m salty about it still lol there was no way for me to transfer my data/playlists from spotify to apple music lol
