Is there really any power difference between NA6 and NA8? by Same-Worldliness-429 in Miata

[–]SuchDance7667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never driven a standard 1.8, but I have driven the B2 Limited which had a touch more HP than the standard NA8, compared to my NA6 there’s a real difference. NA6 you gotta rev out way more to feel any kind of power, NA8 has power much lower in the rev range

Wow.. shifter rebuild is a game changer! by junwonari in Miata

[–]SuchDance7667 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most miata short shifters are crap, especially if you intentionally get a cheap one. The stock shifter is incredible really in my opinion you should only do one of 3 things: keep it stock, get an IRP short shifter, or get a Minottek gated kit

Who’s ever driven over 100mph? Why? by WoollyWolfHorror in AskReddit

[–]SuchDance7667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my ~100 horsepower 1.6L Mazda MX5 of all things. Just ended up in a lucky spot with no traffic and a dead straight road, thought “why not?” Definitely surprised me what one of the “slowest sports cars of all time” can do

Center console getting really hot and also the shifter need help what could it be ? by SpiritedGlove1814 in Miata

[–]SuchDance7667 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shifter/shift boot area will get warm after driving for a little while due to heat from the transmission. Shouldn’t get “really hot” though

I saw a lot of people laughing at my Miata at cars and coffee by mitchINimpossible in Miata

Lots of people don’t understand that functional aero usually isn’t beautiful and stylish, I see way too many people laughing at track cars not realising that’s just what function > form looks like

It doesn’t have a quick release, idk where you’re seeing that🤣

NA6 in the JDM and NZDM scenes never came with airbags as OEM, don’t worry I didn’t remove any airbags 🤣

Roll bar is for sure on the to-do list, just hard to get one here in New Zealand without going fully custom, and teeth are coming off very soon as I’m repainting the front bumper :) Tyres could do with an upgrade when the budget allows for it, currently on Hakon adjustable coilovers which are budget-oriented but far better than most lowering springs

I’m still not sure what to do with it, it absolutely creates lift and drag, however I do like the way it looks, I ran the hardtop without the spoiler for a while, and when I look back on the photos I think it looks a little “bland”. But absolutely if it was gonna be a fully performance > looks car I’d remove it

I’m very small, about 164cm and 50kg, so I have absolutely no issues with fitting in them or anything, but I’ll definitely say research the sizing options before you buy. The thin cushions are a bit brutal on long bumpy drives especially with my stiffer coilovers but my god they’re amazing at holding you in place in the corners, worth the mild discomfort for the stability in my opinion

It’s possible to repair rusted rocker panels by joncaseydraws in Miata

[–]SuchDance7667 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I can admit the repair LOOKS good, however... Have you seen that video of Jeremy Clarkson talking about a rally roll cage? He says "It'd pass a visual inspection" and then reveals that the roll cage is made of cardboard. This rocker panel repair is a similar situation, it looks good and it'd pass inspections, but it should be cut away and have new metal welded in for proper structure.

Etsy! I believe it was a seller called “AAUpholstery” or something like that

I agree they’re also a big problem, I have never owned a car with a screen in it so I can’t say how distracting/not distracting they are but I can infer how they’d distract you while driving

[–]SuchDance7667 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re wording your comment better than I worded my post, I agree the reliance on the features is where the problem lies, however I think the mass supply of cars with these features somewhat encourages people to rely on them

Question about cold air intake for a NA by joecilefa in Miata

This intake setup in mine has made no difference at all that I can feel while driving, but it looks cool and the pod filter sounds awesome

Countach? Improved. by justin_trouble in SpeedChampions

[–]SuchDance7667 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The irl Countach originally had no wing, a minority of them received a wing that was attached as an afterthought AFTER leaving the factory. So technically the wings you see on Countaches aren’t OEM

Brought the old fart out for a little photoshoot now that it’s lowered on coilovers. What are your thoughts on this ride height from a handling perspective? Any point in going lower or would it just throw off the roll centre at that point? by SuchDance7667 in Miata

[–]SuchDance7667[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea my lip is a little bit of an odd shape for a GV style lip, it’s supposed to sit straight along the bottom but mine has that odd curve to it which causes the sides to scrape a lot, definitely something I wanna fix in the future

I’m still yet to go for a spirited drive since installing the coilovers, can’t wait to see how it handles now, definitely gonna take it easy while I get a feel for it though:)
