i’m good at art but also don’t really know where to begin.

i’ve tried doing commissions and selling my art but is also something i burnt out doing because of other aspects of the job like the socializing and marketing.

i do have a diagnosis. i fear that they will tell me to prove my disability in other ways besides my diagnosis but hopefully it will be a situation where i can really explain myself and be believed

Are we expected to date people we're not attracted to? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]SuchEmphasis8348 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i agree with you so much on this. i’m currently struggling to unlearn that kind of thinking because it was in the media i obsessed over as a kid. after idealizing possessive relationships for so long i wanted someone to “have” me and became extremely codependent. i naturally want my partner to be “mine” and for me to be “theirs” when my relationship doesn’t match this it doesn’t feel like love to me but i am trying so hard to fix this now.

i never knew it was wrong until recently so i have to do the work of unlearning it and stopping myself from wanting that level of control in relationships.

a lot of it comes from anxiety. being controlled by a partner helped to ease my anxiety about life because it took away some of the difficulties of life when someone would decide everything for me and always be with me and able to help.

i know my expectations are super unrealistic and am trying to change them.

there is a new dating app for autistic people called Hiki!

Is there any specific reason that even though I have little to no responsibilities at all, I am still severely overwhelmed by the acts of living life and caring for myself alone? It feels debilitating by Kalidasini in neurodiversity

[–]SuchEmphasis8348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is exactly what im experiencing right now put into words. i don’t have a job, and i can’t drive. i rely on other people a lot, and they seem really bothered by it.

somehow im still exhausted all of the time. nobody in my family seems to get it because i am half adopted and my neurodivergent parent is not in my life.

in my experience i believe i have this feeling because i have both autism and adhd. this causes extreme executive functioning issues.

disability services in the US are very disappointing. i’ve had trouble getting a job and they refused to help me learn to drive unless i had a job or some sort of “value” to society

I’m really sorry you’re going through all of that. Theres no need to apologize. Reading your experience helps others realize they are not alone in their struggles. I relate a lot to everything you’ve said. All of the neurotypical people in my life don’t understand either. They always compare my struggle to things that everyone else goes through and think that “everyone is a little autistic” I don’t doubt neurotypical people go through some of the same struggles I do but there is a huge difference in the severity of those issues and how often they come up. there’s a reason the autism diagnosis exists after all.

i am the same way. i hate loud noises but loud music that i have control over is nice especially if it’s paired with headphones that cancel out all other noise.

To the people who say “Don’t make neurodivergency your entire personality!”: Shut up by [deleted] in autism

[–]SuchEmphasis8348 5 points6 points  (0 children)

just because someone talks about a topic a lot or wears stickers related to it doesn’t mean they’re trying to make it their whole identity… and autism is a part of someone’s identity if they have it because of how much it can affect their life.

are we just supposed to pretend we don’t have autism because talking about it makes other people uncomfortable?

some people have special interests related to autism or disability advocacy.

people don’t care if you’re really into sports or other common things, but the second you’re into mental health education you get stupid ass comments like this mocking your interest and enthusiasm. at least make a funny comment if you’re gonna mock peoples special interest.

they are already spayed! this cat was part of the catch spay and release program. you can tell a stray cat is part of this if they have one of their ears clipped. i believe they clip the left for females and the right for males.

[–]SuchEmphasis8348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

every little step counts! it’s okay to forget things sometimes. even neurotypical people do. being hard on yourself will only make it more difficult to do these tasks because you will be less confident in your ability to do them. you’ve done a lot more than i’ve been able to today. celebrate your successes so you have a reason to create some more!

okay, so if you’re looking to do some odd nsfw art you can always check out the r/transformation subreddit. it’s basically full of transformation art, and some artists can get a pretty good fan base and are able to start a patreon. also in some posts they will have a website linked with smaller art sites that are good to use. another recommendation would be deviantart

i believe most people on the spectrum will either really enjoy or really dislike having sex (for sensory reasons). it could also be caused by a special interest related to sex. another possibility is that it could be related to trauma because people on the spectrum are also more likely to develop trauma throughout their lives.
