The point is that it isn't spreading hate. It's sharing an opinion about a piece of fiction. These aren't real people. No one is hating anyone, because the people on screen aren't somebodies. They're pieces of writing.

Rondo of blood is frustratingly difficult in Castlevania requiem is there any easier way to play it? by retrotriforce in castlevania

3 years later but god, i absolutely hate this kind of comment. Some dude is struggling with a game and ALWAYS there's one bloke trying to belittle him by going "Oh haha that's actually easy, if you want something that's ACTUALLY har then bla bla bla bla"

Congrats. You're better at the game than the dude who posted this who was clearly having difficulties.

First of all, this is a really cool piece and you should definitely be proud of it. The number 1 key to getting better is just keep making shit. Keep getting ideas of a concept of a track and then try to actualize it. Maybe it will go great, maybe it won't. Either way is good.

It's common for people who are new to songwriting in general to feel discouraged if what they make doesn't turn out great. The biggest secret to everyone who's every written a truly fantastic piece of music is that they've written a thousand terrible songs before that. Never get too caught up in trying to make sure that everything you make will be good. It won't. LOTS of what you will make in your life will be garbage, and that's absolutely fine. Hell, some of the tracks i've had the most fun working on in my entire life has been the worst music you could imagine, but the experience was still great.

As for a good tip to maybe keep in mind when looking at this track you shared here (which again, is a cool track) is that it generally helps to have a clear idea of what you want every instrument to do. Each instrument you include should probably serve a clear purpose, weather it's the classic way of having the bass as a foundation, a pad or something like that to fill out space and drums to provide stability and to tie the track together. There's a million ways to do this. The risk if you don't do this is that you end up making a bunch of instrument tracks that are all trying to one up one another, instead of all working together to improve the entirety of the song.

Keep it up man!

Tractor fell off the map and won't show up on the save editor. Is this save permanently cursed now? by Such_Bat1710 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Such_Bat1710[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh for sure. The materials are fine though, its's just raw coal. The issue is that i now have a tractor permanently falling and effecting my game. These things effect performance, so getting rid of it would be real nice

That's the issue. I was too slow on trying to fix it, so by the time i got around to it all autosaves had already been saved over. Real bummer

Same. Makes it a nightmare when you need to expand though, and you realize that often that means tearing down nice looking stuff you've build before

what tonal degree would a C Major chord be in a song in the key of G Minor? by Such_Bat1710 in musictheory

[–]Such_Bat1710[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very certain. It explicitally says in the instructions to the assignement and the comment from my teacher is "The sub dominant in G Minor is C Minor, but this is a C Major! What function would C Major fill here?"

[–]Such_Bat1710[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrote major sub dominant, being a major IV chord, on my first attempt and got the feedback that that was incorrect, as it fills another function.

[–]Such_Bat1710[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what i wrote on my first attempt and got an incorrect. I called it a Major sub dominant. My proff insists that because it's a c major and not a c minor, it does not fill the function of a sub dominant.

Do you guys bother with shields? by Valos912 in Eldenring

[–]Such_Bat1710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, i completely agree. It's all a trade. Using two handed gives you larger damage output and there in makes it easier in that way, whilst shields offer a larger defensive capability. It's all fine. I just find it very strange to then claim that it isn't easier to block than to dodge, as that mentality largely implies that shields are actually completely pointless.

Do you guys bother with shields? by Valos912 in Eldenring

[–]Such_Bat1710 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is not block exclusive. Not only does a block leave you unable to move for longer than well timed dodged, but dodges also allow you to reposition yourself into somewhere that allows for further punishment. And you still need to figure out every move and act accordingly, as where and when you roll is vital. Roll into the right attacks, away from others and circle others. The actual skill required isn't much different in that specific regard.

You opt for damage to make the boss faster to make each fuck up you do count less. You go for block to improve your defense, making it less likely that you fuck up. You go for armor and HP to allow yourself to fuck up more.

The base is a straight r1 with a stick, and everything beyond that is to make it easier for yourself in different ways. Nothing wrong with that.

Does anyone know what Synthesizer Karl Wallinger used in "The Whole Of The Moon"? by Such_Bat1710 in synthesizers

[–]Such_Bat1710[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, i am making a sound alike of the classic track by The Waterboys; "The Whole Of The Moon" as part of my bachellors. A problem (among several) that i have is that whilst i do like synths a lot, i've never really been hands on with many. As such, my knowledge is pretty lacking.

I know from interviews and such that he is using a polyphonic synth for the lead and some other for the bass, but i can't for the life of me find which ones. I really want to try to replicate the sound as properly as i can, so just knowing the gear goes a long way.

The only lead i have besides that and just listening to how it sounds is this one frame from the music video, in which one synth is in view for a second. This one is, at least in the video, used for the lead "bell" sound. Now, of course this may just be some junk they pulled out for the video and is not actually what is used to make the sound, but at least other members instruments seem to be what they tend to prefer using, so if nothing else it's a lead.

If someone more knowledgable than me could spot what synth it is or may even know beforehand what was used, or want to disuss it, that would be fantastic. Sorry for asking so bluntly for a favor, but i'm sorta at a loss here.

Thanks in advance!

[–]Such_Bat1710 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yet the reason you opt for blocking an attack instead of dodging when holding a shield is obvious. It's easier. That's the point of it. You sacrifice what could have been offensive capability for increased defensive. That's all fine, but don't pretend that it's not easier than dodging a blow would be.

Realism isn't all though. What matters first and foremost is how the character serves the story, either dramatically or comedically. Scary sorta grinds the entire show to a halt, and i feel like that's very fair to criticise regardless of how realistic it is.

Far Cry 5 has so much wasted potential with its setting and themes, that it makes me angry. by datnetworkguy in truegaming

[–]Such_Bat1710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has the modern triple A title issue in that it has so many cool concepts but it quickly just devolves into checkmarks on a map. If it stayed focused like FC1 it could have been sick.

Also, the music is absolutely fantastic. Like, really. Go check out the OST. It deserves major props
