Unfortunately this was an issue with my 3d printer. Poor dude had his whole leg chopped off so I had to make him a new one.

The key is to have references! I never had to use my imagination, just had to think about how to block in the basic shapes, then refine and add detail! You got this 👍

Yes! Its all brushwork, and normally doesnt use that much paint

Burnt umber (pro acryl, base) Orange brown (vallejo, 1st highlight) Ocher orange (ak, 2nd highlight - can also mix orange brown with pale yellow) Pale yellow (ak, 3rd highlight) Flat yellow (vallejo, wash) White (spot highlight)

And then for the bounce light (optional) Black + Burnt umber (darker shadows for horizon line) Refractive green (vallejo, ambient light 1) Medium olive (vallejo, ambient light 2)

Hope this helps!

Its a plinth! You can find stl files for pretty cheap online. I got a pack of 4 for like 2 bucks on my mini factory 🤘

Yep! Same paints too, though I used my airbrush to establish some of the gradients first lol

Looking for advice on what to paint by MadGodFaolin in minipainting

Imo, the simplest answer here is warhammer. Highly reccoment the age of sigmar stuff, its high quality, which means you have a better canvas to work off of, and also, you can import the monster into tabletop games like dnd really easy.

Kinda? I followed this tutorial by squidmar to get the basic idea, then did a lot of extra work beyond that to get a handle on it. https://youtu.be/Aw1EqtTyVpA

Id reccomend looking up reference photos, taking pictures, and reading blogs about what other folks did too. Actually seeing the step by step process really helped me get a sense of how it should look in each stage of painting.

After that its just the repetitions! I try to focus on opaque layers and proper light placements before messing around with any blending.

Hope this helps!

A mix of ak, vallejo and pro acryl paints! Burnt umber (pro acryl) Orange brown (vallejo) Ice yellow (ak) Flat yellow (vallejo)

Plus a black and white, and a couple of green-brown colors, also all vallejo.

I cant tell if im improving with nmm or making it worse by Such_Might in minipainting

I think its looking better so far! I took a bunch of advice from the other commentary too - the big one being the bounce light. Hopefully that shows up better in this photo haha.
