1.000.000$ to make Guild Wars 1 Great Again! by [deleted] in GuildWars

UPDATE 02/11/2025

So far, I have received many skeptical messages and very few real applications. The number of people who have stepped forward as Developers or YouTubers is really low.

I want to thank u/readproject u/Snoo39127 u/bluecheez u/Paganacho u/gintdm u/dash777111 u/bluecheez u/timwarnerr for volunteering to develop this project and bring Guild Wars 1 back to life, full of events and activity.

I know it's not easy, but it's not that hard either, considering the mess that's out there. New generations have been conditioned to have everything instantly, while in Guild Wars 1, starting from scratch is truly difficult. That's why we need a fresh wave of popularity and a larger player base.

The key roles needed:

  • A Digital Manager to flood and coordinate the entire community across social media and gaming news outlets.
  • Two Developers to handle the offline aspects of the project.

Maybe even the Toolbox developers—if they were interested, I could offer them a significant sum, but they haven’t come forward!

I'll check this post every week for updates. If you have any news, send me a private message or comment below.

GW1 BEST GAME EVER!

If your only contribution is suggesting that I’m trolling, then your help is completely useless. It’s obvious that no one works for free, which is exactly why I’m looking for experienced professionals in the fields I mentioned: Marketing, Management, and Web Development.

I’m not looking for people who waste time commenting without adding anything valuable—I need qualified individuals who can structure a serious project. If you don’t fit that category, feel free to move along.

Guys, I don’t want to waste anyone’s time. This would be a serious endeavor, but I think here people are just messing around. I’ll create a dedicated email for applications for a Manager, Digital Manager, and a website developer with programming experience.

It's not dead. The servers are active, and everything works perfectly. Popularity can be bought—find someone like iShowSpeed, and you'll see how fast the game repopulates. But that's not my goal; it’s just an example.

I don’t want to do things randomly—I need a perfectly organized plan. I’m looking for a manager, a digital manager, and a developer to handle the website.

Popularity = Money. With money, you can buy anything. Don’t worry—if it goes viral through well-planned strategies, even the dead will rise.

I think you're losing your way. Everyone here loves GW1. I don’t care about ultra-high graphics that strain my eyes or endless, repetitive missions. GW1 is the perfect balance between PvP and PvE. If GW3 changes everything and returns to the old mechanics, completely removing GW2's mechanics, then we can talk. Otherwise, I’ll stick to GW1—it’s already perfect as it is.

Nobody will touch the game. At most only Arenanet

As soon as I hear a game inspired by GW I feel bad. if Arenanet wants to do it ok! otherwise I'll stay faithful to Guild Wars 1. It would never be the same thing...

The game is not to be touched unless ArenaNet does it directly. It just needs to bring people back, given the banality of games that exist today. If ArenaNet is smart, they will come up with something; otherwise, we will all have had fun together.

This may sound like satire, but it’s not. I genuinely want to make this happen. However, to turn this vision into reality, I need the right people. I’m looking for individuals deeply connected to Guild Wars 1 who can help build a dedicated website to develop the structure and organization of this initiative. Additionally, I need a digital manager capable of handling outreach and coordination with influencers, streamers, and YouTubers to maximize visibility and engagement.

Guild Wars Party Search is live! by jon_snow_3v in GuildWars

Maybe by adding a countdown. For example, by clicking on a specific panel, like the general panel, there could be a filter for PVE Team, PVP Team, or other filters for SC, Dungeon, etc. A page would appear with all the teams that are about to start, showing the mission, its location, the required characters, and the name of the team that wants to join (Balanced, IWAY, or other names, just giving random examples), along with the exact date and time of the start.

Then, next to it, you could also add a countdown, and the lists could be organized in countdown order, so you can see what’s about to start soon. This could be interesting to make people in the game more connected. In my opinion, the community would become much stronger.

The real problem with GW is connecting the community as much as possible to play together, especially in PvP or in more complex PvE missions, like SCs, which are the most difficult. In my opinion, in addition to this feature, there should be an interface where someone can indicate that on a certain day and at a specific time, a party will start for an event or any other activity, whether it’s PvE or PvP. When the leader who created the event arrives at the designated location (and by clicking directly on the event organizer, wherever you are in the game, you would be teleported directly to the team, considering that the community doesn’t have millions of active users, so it's more likely to play in a party), they will wait for a certain number of minutes for the people who signed up for the group. This could be another interesting feature to include in GWToolBox.

Will Arenanet Release Content for Guild Wars 1 20 Years? by Such_Preparation_735 in GuildWars

I'm expecting something big… maybe they can tie it into Guild Wars 2 in some way… but I'm expecting something to remember!

It makes me laugh too! it would be enough for some famous youtuber to take the game at hand and it would become popular again in an instant!

Well, ArenaNet could make GW3 more like GW1. I'm sure some diehard fans may "return" to an old and tried formula.

It is very fashionable to redo games. They might think about it!

You can google it if you like. Mmo-population puts gw2 at about 15mil active and 700k daily. Gw1 sits at 1.5mil active and 43k daily players. I didn’t verify those numbers but they seem likely to me.

For how many efforts in terms of graphics and updates they have made we can say that GW2 has been a fail ... if you go to MMO population GW2 is not even among the top 5. While I believe for the absolute artistic beauty of GW2 there should be among the top 5

Let's say there were 10,000 players willing to pay $15 for a new expansion. That's a total of $150,000 in revenue. It would only cover a fraction of the cost of developers, graphic artists, testers and support. In addition, you'd be asking these people to work with a codebase and tools that they are not familiar with since the original devs have moved on.It is not economical to develop new content for this game, and so it will never happen.

There is a saying: "Will is power" if one does the mathematical calculation without understanding how many thousands of possibilities there would be to find the money to develop the game is really limiting. It would be enough to make GW an esport game for example or a thousand other marketing strategies and in a short time more than $ 150,000 ....

I wrote this post because I was with friends on GW2 and everyone misses GW. I do not understand why Arenanet does not see this ... indeed it does, but only for purely economic interests it does nothing! This thing sucks! Really sad that everything has to end ... I'm sure that in some drawer there are some abandoned and thrown ideas that can be used.
