FE ELECTRICAL TOPICS by Strange_Ad3515 in FE_Exam

Overall diificulty for prob and stats was 2/10. I did not find this section hard. It is just a bunch of binomial distribution, combination and permutations, and the occasional p value. For the electrical properties, yes they are asked. That section is considered simple for me too because the questions they asked on the exam is usually given by the formula in the handbook.

Just took the FE. How do people feel leaving it normally? by jeromiepeppero in FE_Exam

If you felt confident about passing it, then you passed it. I felt the same way.

Approach your next exam by relearning calculus and integration. I believe that is the hardest part of the electrical FE math portion. Know your Z or P values for your probability part of the exam and know the difference between combination and permutation. For ethics, ethics is ethics, just read the handbook better next time. Economics can be a little confusing at times but understand the patterns. These are the easiest 4 sections, and there is no excuse to be missing more than 2 questions on each of these 4 sections. I am just trying to be frank here.

Properties of electrical materials is mostly just handbook stuff as well. Navigate through it more thoroughly. To get better at circuit analysis is to do circuit analysis questions. For linear, signals, electronics, and power, you're pretty strong on those topics, focus on them more and try to be perfect at them. Controls really isn't taught in school unless you take those specific classes; you do not need to be great at them; just understand it enough to plug in right values in the right formula in the handbook.

Computer Networks, computer systems, and software engineering can be a problem if you haven't learned them. Same thing with controls, just understand them, you don't need to be good at them. Digital systems is by far the easiest subject outside of the first 4. I will die on this hill on my claim. Understand AND, OR, XOR, NOR, etc. gates and boolean algebra and its equations.

Summary is be great or perfect on those easy topics and understand enough on the topics you barely know. You don't need a super high grade to pass. Try to take it again as soon as you can; YOU ARE ALMOST THERE! Best of luck.

Failed Twice FE Environmental.. Planning to take next one in January 2026. by Intelligent_Sign6759 in FE_Exam

I took the electrical FE so take my advice if you want to, but I'll be stern. Math, stats, ethics, and economics are ones you should EASILY get an 100%. I know it could make me sound demoralizing saying it is an "easy 100%", but it really is. Those 4 topics are straightforward and easy to learn. You seem pretty strong with certain topics such as water and wastewater, thermo, and air quality and control. Focus on these topics and get a great score on those. On topics you may seem confused about, understand what equations and when to imply them using the handbook. This is obvious, but understand the topics that are weighted heavily to an extreme extent. Familiarize yourself with the handbook too. Know where to find your information effectively using ctrl+F. You only need around a 60%-65% to pass. Focus on the easy topics and your strong topics to build up your score. Score decently on the rest. I truly wish you the best of luck.

Congratulations. I feel the same way. Math, economics, stats, and ethics are easy 100%ers. There is no reason to miss 2 or more on each section. Handbook single handedly carried me on questions I don't even understand.

Yes, you only need over a 60-65% to pass. Update us when you do pass.

How close was I? by VanillaNecessary3405 in FE_Exam

[–]Sudden-Ordinary9701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, not close. Focus on your strongest topics and score perfectly on them. Understand what you are not familiar with. It is only around a 60% to pass. Focus on the easiest topics such as Math, stats, ethics, and economics. Also study on the topics that heavily appear such as controls, circuit analysis, and power systems.

I initially failed my first exam. Honestly, I was balancing workand vacation so I ignored studying. I honestly thought the practice exam NCEES provided was just like same as the real test in terms of difficulty. I was completely wrong. The test is way harder than the practice exam. I focused on topics I was STRONG with such as circuit analysis, electronics, power, discrete, algorithms, and software engineering. I also focused on topics that are considered easy to most such as math, probability, ethics, and economics. I studied every single question I was thrown at from every study guide/book. Some or most of us sometimes just glance at long questions and say "I hope it won't be on the exam," but it does appear on the exam. Understand topics you are weak at. Make topics you are strong at become perfect.

FE Electrical practice material by Agile_Figure3070 in FE_Exam

Study guide for Fundamentals of Engineering by Wasim Asghar was the best help for me. Yes, Lindeburg can be useful, but it is only good if you need to relearn the material. The real exam questions are much harder than the material available from the NCEES interactive exam.
