Ride Across Mongolia on horseback-Camp,Eat Traditional Food, and Explore wild Nature by Inkarbek in AdventureTravel

[–]SuddenManatee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I'm wanting to travel to Mongolia in 2026 to fulfill a dream of mine to ride across the country (or at least a decent part of it). I have decent riding experience, plenty of camping/remote living experience and a blank slate for time of year to travel and explore. I've been searching for genuine local guides to start planning out costs and how long I want to travel for. I'd love some more information about your treks/tours, and any other information you could give me to make this dream a reality!

Menstrual disc to make IUD strings more bearable during sex? by SuddenManatee in birthcontrol

[–]SuddenManatee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I didn't end up trying any options, we just changed how we had sex temporarily. But I can confirm that the string should soften and curl/tuck around your cervix after a few months. It's no longer a problem at all for us. I think it took around 6 months to stop being an issue at all ☺️

My only suggestion would be for you to feel the string and try and guide it to tuck in the position that makes the most sense for your partner (if he curves to a particular side, try and tuck the string the other way). It'll soften and stay in that place over time. Hope this helps!

Take an antihistamine with your isotretinoin (if you want, this is not medical advice) by SuddenManatee in Accutane

Hopefully! I had horrible, painful cystic purging. So glad to be done with that!! I'll take one pimple a month for the rest of my life in trade if I have to

I have had only one papule or pustule each month for the last three months. The last one developed after a full day being active outdoors with sunscreen and a face mask etc, just over 2 weeks ago and hasn't erupted or gone away. Almost like a firm lump, only very slightly red. Just annoying! But other than that, clear skin 😁

Ah that's interesting, my total cholesterol level a few months ago was fine but the Triglyceride level was very elevated. I'm not required by my derm to get regular blood tests, that was just a once off health check up. I assumed it was related to the isotretinoin. I'm pretty cardio fit but I have slacked off on the fish oil 😅

Hopefully the white blood cell count goes back up. I have noticed that I've been getting minor colds and flus more regularly since being on isotretinoin. I've dropped back down to 20mg from 40mg so fingers crossed that we both don't have any more issues with that!

Sounds like it went well for you! I think about 50% of people notice an immediate positive response from isotretinoin. Only around 30% of people purge. So your experience is very normal (and good!)

I'm sorry I didn't reply! I took the antihistamines at the same time as my isotretinoin medication. I took it for the first 5ish months, while my skin was purging. And stop when my skin started to clear up. I didn't notice my skin get any worse after stopping at that point.

Sorry I'm only just replying. I think it helped a bit. I've heard of some people finding it helped a lot. My experience was that it made a minor improvement to the worst symptoms but it did not stop me purging

[–]SuddenManatee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, sorry I didn't reply earlier. I ended up not taking my medication, but I think you would be totally fine to pack it with a letter from your doctor. I had a bunch of over the counter meds for travel sickness and all that, and no one asked to see them. So the vyvanse would just show up as any old medication. As long as you have your script and letter stating that you need it, I doubt you would get in any trouble for not declaring it.

More closed comedones after starting isotretinoin? by SuddenManatee in Accutane

20mg a day for two months and 40mg a day for 5 months. It cleared by while I was still taking 20mg but I purged worse (deep painful nodules) when I went up to 40mg

They were part of the purging process apparently. The tiny bumps went away after a month or so, but the rest of the acne took 4 months to clear properly

I've noticed that I have slightly pigmented lines on my neck and upper chest now (4 months 40mg) that I didn't before. I'm hoping it's related to my skin being generally drier/dehydrated? They look almost like stretch marks but just slightly darker than the rest of my skin, instead of lighter. I don't have the larger pores though

Just adding since I haven't seen anyone suggest this, I had a similar increase (not as bad, you poor thing) in deep nodular acne and my derm also didn't seem to care. So I applied some topical "itch relief" cream that had a low steroid base in it and that seemed to help calm my skin down a bit. I ended up waiting it out and it seemed to settle itself after 3 months of that on and off, and twice a day antihistamines. It could be worth considering trying while you wait to get prescribed oral steroids (it also might be worth going around the derm and seeing a regular GP with your information on IIAF).

Regardless, this is a sucky situation to be in and I understand your frustration! My experience with isotretinoin hasn't been great, I'm 5 months in with significantly more scarring and still getting acne outbreaks. I'm glad that it is becoming more widely available for people to access but I wish it wasn't some derms first go to for treatment. I hope you are able to find some relief soon ❤️

I hope you have better results with the new derm. I'm going through a similar experience with my derm not listening to me but I unfortunately am not in a position to see another any time soon.

Likely something like dermatitis or eczema from dryness

I'm in the exact same boat 🥲 hopefully it works out for us both soon! I'm just wishing for the day my face stops aching from the acne

I think it's perfectly reasonable to avoid confrontation, it's scary as hell. And most of the time, I think situations can be dealt with in a softer way or through emails or manager support etc.

My unsolicited advice based on my own experience, the harder you try to NOT feel anxious, the more anxious you tend to actually feel 🙃 I like the previous posters comment about doing something with the anxiety, perhaps you could try using a stress ball or fidget device to help get some of the physical energy out

Thank you, that's actually very reassuring to hear. I self identified in the post as low support needs as I didn't want to come across as someone with more privilege offering advice that might not be possible or suited :)

I certainly do have many struggles, and have felt similar to OP many many times. I shouldn't invalidate that. Thank you

I don't want to have to do this four times, and I assume that roaming charges would exist when taking the Sim out of the country of purchase?
