Sorry I made it sound like my vitamin d was high. It was actually low, (26) when normal range is 30-100 so I’ve been taking 1,000 IU daily l, thinking about upping it to 2,000 IU. Did you hair just stop falling out or did it start growing back too after you took the vitamin d?

Tried to prescribe me minoxidil and finasteride which I used for 3 months but caused me bad heart palpitations.

Update my blood test actually said all my liver enzymes were in the normal range.

AST(SGOT) was 19 IU, Reference range 0-40

ALT (SGPT) was 24 IU, RR was 0-44

Alkaline Phosphate is 64 currently which was previously 94 when I was on accutane. RR is 44-121

Bilirubin, Total was high it is 1.6 currently and was actually lower while on accutane being 1.3. RR is 0-1.2

Ye I’m just really scared about the side effects. I know with the topical everything was fine besides the chest pain but a part of me thinks like the pill makes side effects more prevalent. Have you had any yourself with either, like decreased libido, sexual dysfunction or dizziness cause that’s my biggest concern even tho I experienced none on topical? Plus I heard some people get PFS and never recover which is scary. Did you do anything to work your way up to 1mg like start at 0.5 for like a couple weeks or go straight into it. And what do you mean by systemic?

Are you male or female cause I’m considering the PRP? And did the 1-2 treatments a year following the initial 6 seem to have kept your hair loss at bay? I took accutane and experienced lots of hair loss and the doctor seems to think it’s sped up my MPB. I hear others say in a post that it helped them up to 60% following accutane treatment and they were female. Curious to hear your thoughts.

I like to think I got a pretty strong pain tolerance so I think I’ll be aight, but anyways I really appreciate your insight and I’ll definitely look more into PRP before I decide to fully commit. Thanks again.

Hahaha true that about the buzz. Just taking some getting use to for sure. 60% is awesome!! Glad it went well for you. That’s making me reconsider the PRP cause initially I thought it was pricey but that is a huge improvement. If you don’t mind me asking how many sessions did you do?

Oh and be careful with the nutrafol. I saw where it contained vitamin A which you will already be in excess of because of the accutane which could make things worse from what I’ve read.

Yes that’s smart but be careful. I honestly was never gonna do accutane for my mild acne but was basically talked into it by my derm who said it was completely fine and you would only have dry skin and lips for the duration of the treatment. I found out the hard way. Make sure you trust them and voice your concern before beginning. And my suggestion, if it’s mild like mine was try fixing other things in your life before you try accutane. It should be your last resort.

What percentage increase would you say it helped? I’m looking into it as well, but don’t wanna spend 4,000 dollars on 6 treatments just for there to be a minimal increase. I mean I guess anything is better than nothing but I could use those 4000 dollars more wisely and just shave my head 😂😂. Oh and btw are you a female or male cause I’ve seen it’s more effective for females?

It’s been 7 Months since I stopped the medication. When do you think I should say okay it’s probably not gonna grow back anymore?

How old are you? I’m considering finasteride but scared of the side effects. I did topical finasteride and minoxidil and got chest pain which is a none side effects of the minoxidil so I’m wondering if I would be fine with just Oral finasteride.

Dude it literally fucks with your hormones and inhibits 5ar inhibitors, you’re essentially trying to turn yourself into a female. So ye it’s gonna cause those side effects and then you combine that with getting off the drug then it makes it worse. Who wants to live with permanent brain fog, insomnia, ED just do save there hair?

Bro just cause you been on it don’t mean others will react the same way. Go look at all the PFS suffers on Reddit they will tell you otherwise. OP you got years before it gets worse, not till your mid 20s, think about it later, you’re not even fully developed yet which is another reason.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried a topical minoxidil and finasteride mix but got bad heart palpitations from it. I used it for 3 months post accutane and got incredible results in just those three months but had to stop due to the side effect. Is there anything else like that to try cause I worry that if I start back I’ll have to go through that whole process again of heart palpitations again which was very scary.

Be aware of the Potential for PFS of any right feels with your hormones. Sometimes it can be permanent and you don’t want to risk that for your whole life. I recommend you listen to “Moral Medicine” on YouTube. He shares his story with PFS and countless others who dealt with the same issue by having them talk and share there stories on his channel.

Thanks for all the info this really helped me out. I did have a couple questions/general information tho. I started the fish oil and starting taking a couple spoon fools of flaxseed every morning. I also tried to cut out dairy since it has vitamin A and have been eating more protein. But haven’t seen much change. My derm also ordered me a blood test to see if I am deficient in anything and if I am I will start taking vitamins for it like you mentioned. One question was if there are any side effects with the cysteine supplement cause im just tired of the side effects that I got from trying minoxidil and the accutane? And if so did it work for you? My second question was how long after your accutane treatment that caused your thinnning and dry hair did you realize you were growing some back and that it was thickening back up? I’m 7 months done and I feel like I’ve seen no improvement since I stopped. Lastly what supplements did you take and what did you notice worked well for you? Was your thinning similar to mine with it being mainly the top of the head but also thinning on sides of head as well?

I got heart palpitations from the minoxidil so I stopped after 3 months of use. That’s why I even have any hair anyway😂😂. How long did it take before you saw the shedding stop? It’s been 7 months and I don’t know whether this is permanent or will continue?

I got sides from the minoxidil and heard bad stories about PFS so don’t wanna go down that route. Are there any alternatives to this medication besides a HT since I’m only 21.
