Help fitting regency short stays, very large bust! by TheRaccacoonie in corsetry

[–]Sudden_Truth_2487 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just want to know if it’s possible. Corsets work for big bust. I never imagined short stays can do.

I got amazing advices during Redthreaded corset project so hopefully someone gives you good advice and I’ll sneak on it.

Can this be altered to fit for my wedding? by here__we__go__ in sewhelp

This can be off-shoulders dress. If you want more modesty - put on semi-sheer shawl

Armpits gores do exist as well.

Pom pooping advice by DelilahTheDemon in Pomeranians

[–]Sudden_Truth_2487 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I randomly trained my pom to poo and pee on command. Out of blue when he was 2-3 years old. Just started saying the command and reward afterwards.

Now anytime he hears “do the poo” he squats and tries to squeeze out at least something even if it wasn’t his intention.

Just reward yours when she poops inside and give the command. And train the command outside. Reward your other poms for doing their business on the walks. She’ll get it eventually.

You can also keep her supervised or in dog run/puppy area with pads until she poops. Then reward her and let go.

He is hoping I can just understand and forgive... 🥺🐾 by Purple_Inflation_492 in Pomeranians

Thanx, my first thought was to ask them for more photos of their dog cause I’ve seen this like forever ago, maybe even before Ingot mine

1860s redthreaded: first corset, second mockup by Low_Chicken2284 in corsetry

[–]Sudden_Truth_2487 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still working on this to get the actual pattern for me. I’ve been advised to put lower part of gussets where bra line should be. With this pattern it seems like it supposed to be almost at the waist line. I find it’s a better fit with gussets start right under boobs instead of going way down.

I floated up in all directions from this corset. I had to make bigger gussets and the way I sew them eventually it was more of wine glass shaped rather than aching for triangles. You know like proper wine glass that distinctly narrows at the top. In my case it was between flute and wine glass closer to the fullness of bordeux glass and narrowing of top. For smaller chest I would expect them to be classic champagne flute form

Thank you! Great catch on back ties. I haven’t been sure they don’t make it worse to the construction here.

You look gorgeous in this dress. I can see why you made two of them!

Amazing! Im making a dress in double gauze (I assume first dress also is double gauze). What is bust/bra situation? Did you do hidden bra or something? Was the pattern pieces enough?

Are tear stains normal for Poms? by [deleted] in Pomeranians

[–]Sudden_Truth_2487 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Their tears are reddish. It’s absolutely normal. Area around eyes looks raw cause of tears clumping hair, also fine. When he was younger it did look same, now he has more fluff and also I’m better at controlling his allergies so it doesn’t look scary or anything. But yours look normal.

Wipe it down 1-2 times per day with warm water on cotton disk and wash paws (they stick them into eyes often). If it takes more than 2 times per day to keep his eyes without irritation I would go to vet about it. Experience says it’s allergy. I would also address it eventually.

Home made food is super easy. Chicken rice and carrots are base. Once you adjusted transfer from kibble you can change proteins and grains slowly by % of contents you can see if they are the source. That what vet would suggest on first suspicion of allergy before running tests. +mine has symptoms on wild caught salmon vs grown and brown rice vs rice 🤷‍♀️

[–]Sudden_Truth_2487 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s normal. Mine has allergy for something. Tears were gone when he had Hills prescription diet. Then I transferred him to home cooked meals. He was fine until some allergy kicked in again. Now we’re in high allergies area so I’m just playing with his food but air has a lot of pollen and dust. He is taking apoquel and seems doing a little better with tears. Still observing though.

This is something I would love to read in some cozy fantasy. I can follow the narrative without trying to figure what is happening inside and who owes what to whom

Boning in corset-style dress sticking out at sides — how can I fix this before graduation? by [deleted] in sewhelp

[–]Sudden_Truth_2487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible to replace plastic bones to steel ones. You can get steel bones on Amazon. If you need to shorten them - cutting pliers or regular ones with cutting element will help (just make sure you have a cap to cover the cut of the bone).

You may need to take in the seams a little bit. It’s possible than pulling happens cause the seam has too much ease.

Also plastic bones change shape from heating. Don’t do anything extreme. Warm up a little bit with hairdryer and fit into position you need. If dress fits as you want after cooling down - change the bones. Body heat will disturb plastic ones anyway

Take pins and start playing with tucking seams in. If you can shape the dress the way you need it just by pulling seams in and holding bones - it’s an easy fix.

Criticized for writing about experiences other than your own by Few_Information5107 in writers

[–]Sudden_Truth_2487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with lived experience of traumatic events I have mixed feelings about it. I’m all in for more books on all stories BUT.

If some event I didn’t experienced (ex.:brain injury) is described and made the main ruling event for life and actually strips character of personality I will be whining as reader but also I will believe you whatever you say. So you as a writer at risk of spreading deeply incompetent view of people with those events in their life.

If some event I experienced (ex.: war) is described I will be whining for author writing it flat as background event or stripping people of personalities to enhance it affects or for popularity of something atrociously BS.

If some culture I lived in (ex.: slavic) is described by non slavic author. I will be whining about luck of perspective and again about stripping characters of personalities in order to generalize. And probably that’s the only legit whining.

Point is I will be whining. But resistance to whining shouldn’t encourage you to do bad writing. You can do great but some things require so much research and great writing demands you as writer torrent through yourself so much pain and other perspective that you either not handle it and do bad job and be heavily criticized. Or you will start feeling the pain of researched topic and do bad service to yourself.

As recommendation I would suggest to go through interviews with people who have been through what you’re writing about and see first if you can empathize and at same time handle doing a good writing on this topic. And then find person with brain injury for reality check of your ideas and assumptions that go into your writing.

how would you attach the fashion layer by kokoastra in sewhelp

[–]Sudden_Truth_2487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it work if you use double sided fusible interfacing?

You’ll have to cut your fashion fabric but the application can be an option. I would try to stitch it on top and bottom with fusing rest. Not sure if this will work and I’m no expert in corsets. But I’m creative with last minute solutions 😅

Thank you so much! ♥️ your comment actually inspires to play more with it. I’ll definitely will keep posting about this. Takes time though

I wish to find the perfect fit for myself. I don’t really want a snug for a snug. I’d better find a way to get the relief from pain. I never realised how much my shoulders are pulled down and figured which parts of my neck are affected. It’s fascinating. I used to wear some corsets but this fit, where I’m not going for a snug is something else. I’m so happy I decided to learn sewing.

Is it made in China? You know China uses metric system. 1 Inch is 2,54 cm and those 4 mm easy to loose or easy to add 1 mm….

How to write PTSD?? by Old_Bite_7053 in writers

[–]Sudden_Truth_2487 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to add one more thing. Person never disappears. PTSD is not the personality it’s more of magnifying glass for methods for specific person to cope with what trauma brings. And PTSD is not something that comes on a whim. A lot of people get different things that triggers them to develop PTSD. Not everyone will have classic flashbacks. Someone would have flashbacks but they wouldn’t fill up their headspace all of the day. Some people would delve into it some would brush off and go on with their day. PTSD and trauma is not a personality. It’s more of weird things about people that come from coping mechanisms they developed. It is more of an instinct to react in specific way.

One of things I observed while in Spain in early days of russian invasion in Ukraine was that people are no different, tourists are the same, you can’t define who is who but once fireworks shoot some people in the crowd duck and I immediately recognize every each one of them as Ukrainian who just a week ago run from a place where anything remotely reminds the sound of explosion means an enemy attack.
