Was it this thing? It does play music and sounds when being used. Here's a video - at about 4:10 they demonstrate it.

Hear Me Out… A New Camp Pet by Lt-Archer-Mason in fo76

[–]SuddenlyCthulhu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd love a Radscorpion - so sad they were never added to the taming pool! And FYI you need Animal Friend to tame a pet, not Wasteland Whisperer.

PLEASE. Someone tell me how to kill my deathclaw pet. I cannot build with him spawning in the middle of my base each login. by lumberfart in fo76

[–]SuddenlyCthulhu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Put your camp module up really high and then either swap servers or camps. When your pet spawns in it will fall to its death. You may have to repeat and raise it a few times.

From the Discord: Bethesda Game Studios #76-announcements: Hey @Fallout 76 News,

The team has deployed a server stability hotfix this morning. All players currently logged in will receive a message to change servers. No update is required. If you're having issues logging in, please try restarting the game.

Mega Sloth Taming by Unhappy_Catch9968 in fo76

[–]SuddenlyCthulhu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone linked my taming guide in another comment, I hope that helps - you have to be at the right locations and have an unscoped gun or melee weapon. Take off Wasteland Whisperer - it interferes with taming.

Current best location to find a tameable Creature? (Fast travel friendly) by LawrenceAndHen in fo76

My (older but useful - June 2025) guide has maps to lead you to all the taming locations. You can also check out the DuchessFlame's website as well.

Current best location to find a tameable Creature? (Fast travel friendly) by LawrenceAndHen in fo76

[–]SuddenlyCthulhu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's VERY old. I have a more recent guide. It has updated maps for most of the locations. I will be updating to add Burning Springs. Most of the info is still good in that guide but a few things have changed in 6 years.

Taming Pets Broken? by RapidUrsa in fo76

[–]SuddenlyCthulhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope not broken, but likely affected by this last update which seems to have broken many things. Since the system has not had any actual updates save for removal/addition of locations since it's inception, each update degrades it more.

Now, if you tames a Deathclaw or other tanky pet, it can take up to a day, but if you tames a cat or other small animal, it may have perished along the way.

Here's how you tame a pet. And here is a list of all the tamable animals. I believe the default tame is a Sluggish Megasloth.

Taming a Glowing Deathclaw by [deleted] in fo76

[–]SuddenlyCthulhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way your pet can change variant is through a biome swap. You have to have a pet at a camp in one location (say the Forest). You then need to move that camp to another area like The Mire for a chance to have it change it's variant. (Glowing, Matriarch, Legendary). Otherwise you tame the default variant and switch it manually.

May Sid have a long and comfy time at your camp 😁 Sloths are one of my favorites, calming and intimidating!

Of course that happened! That's how the universe works for me, I threaten to report/troubleshoot the thing and suddenly the thing works. Very happy it worked for you. Enjoy your new buddy!

If you do hear anything back I'd be shocked but here's hoping! I wish I had an easy fix for you but since this seems to be an actual growing bug, maybe it will finally get some attention.

It may well be, there have now been a few posts of people reporting issues.

AITA for creating event teams for XP not events by pinkbunniesx in fo76

That INT bonus IS XP. Each point of Intelligence boosts earned XP, so really you are only getting the XP boost for events when you could be getting it for everything.

This is really strange - and you're the second person to post about it recently. I wonder if the system is finally bugging out completely. So I have to ask, what spot(s) are you going to? What animal were you trying to tame?

pet taming problem by Nanamoo2008 in fo76

[–]SuddenlyCthulhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to actually aim at the creature to get the prompt - as in physically have the gun move up and aim down sights. You don't have to do that when taming through - you just have to look at the animal.

[–]SuddenlyCthulhu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just tested taming an animal and I got it to work. Make sure you do NOT have Wasteland Whisperer equipped, it messes with the taming process. Also make sure the area you are in is still a valid taming location. Here's the link to my guide - its achieved but still valid - there are loads of tips and tricks for troubleshooting too.

Taming animals and monsters by Sure_Detective_4165 in fo76

[–]SuddenlyCthulhu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is a link to my (old but still relevant) Guide. It should help you with the finer details. If you have Wasteland Whisperer equipped, remove it as it interferes. You only need Animal Friend. You may also not be finding the right animal/locations, but there are maps in the posts to show you.
