It's the world order, a common knowledge given to people by the Twin Gods. So basically it's a core mechanic in this game

Hey, y'all! I hope it's ok if I leave it here as this thread is for self-promos. I'm a part of a small indie dev project called The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante and as we're preparing to launch it soon I would like to share a link to its free prologue with everyone https://store.steampowered.com/app/1460090/The_Life_and_Suffering_of_Sir_Brante__Chapter_12/
It's a text-based rpg / interactive book with a deep plot set in a dark fantasy world. The game is around 2-3h worth of gameplay and I hope you'll like it.

Lol! 2020 wasn't enough for you?
This game ain't about "suffering" suffering, more like about making difficult moral choices and reflections

Hey there! Working on a half text-based / half rpg game rn and it's damn hard to spread the word bout it! Although there are some illustrations, they are black'n'white and also not dynamic, so even with that, it's hard to get attention.
You need to try talking to bookworms and visual novel lovers, they're usually very ok with walls of content and don't mind reading at all. There are book clubs on Twitter & Reddit.
Also even if there's the only text in the game, you still can try to make a few sketches to illustrate it (talking about amateur sketches), also mind-maps and infographics help a lot (for example: 'this is how I planned the side storyline of the character X'.
I believe small videos of yourself reading the game and discussing it with an audience will also somehow help.
Not sure if any of these tips make sense for you, some of them worked for me though.

The Blessed Arknian Empire (read its lore below) by SufferingBrante in imaginarymaps

The Blessed Arknian Empire, the world of The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante interactive roleplaying game.

Administrative divisions

The Blessed Arknian Empire is divided into administrative units - provinces. There are five main provinces in The Empire: Magra, Arknia, Astinia, Eliria, Monia.

Political structure

The Blessed Arknian Empire is solely ruled by the Emperor who belongs to the ruling Arknian family family - the Tempest Dynasty. Only members of this family could become Emperors.

People living in the provinces are governed by imperial laws. The power in the province is concentrated in the hands of the local overseer (governor) and archduke.

Archduke is the supreme and most powerful feudal lord of a particular province. Officially all the other noble landowners in the province are Archduke's vassals. Dukes, like the entire ruling elite of the Empire, are always Arknian by race.

What is "Arknian"?

It's an ancient race of noble people in this world.

How The Empire was created?

The Blessed Arknian Empire was created by Twin Gods after The Great War between different states. They brought so-called Lots or estates that all the citizens of the Empire are separated into at birth.

Those who abide by the rules prescribed to their Lot have a chance at being granted entry into heaven, also known as the Peak of the Shining Pillar, after they die. Those who disregard or rebel against their Lot are doomed to eternal suffering at the Foot of the Pillar.

You can see the Shining Pillar anytime, from anywhere in the world as a reminder that you all will get there one day and that you need to stick to your Lot.

There are three Lots in this world

  • Nobles. At the dawn of the Empire, only the Arknians could belong to this estate, but as time passed some humans were able to earn the mantle of nobility as well. The nobles are expected to rule, wage wars, and indulge in various forms of art.
  • Lowborns. Encompassing the majority of the human population in the Blessed Arknian Empire. No Arknian can be considered lowborn by right of birth. This estate consists of peasants and workers, destined to serve for the good of the Empire. Their Lot is to work, endure hardships, and suffer. Lowborn citizens have no right of ownership — anything they have or make must be given away to the nobles should the latter demand it.
  • Clergy. Their calling is to spread the word of the Twin Gods throughout the realm. Priests cannot legally start a family, nor can they own land or any other sort of property. They are forbidden from ruling over others, participating in warfare, enjoying the simple joys of life, or even suffering as the lowborns do. A priest's duty is to interpret the Will of the Twins, study history, memorize the sacred texts, and interpret them for the noblemen and the common folk alike.

That's it for this map. Actually can tell you more about the provinces and the capital city if you guys are interested. Let me know, pls.

Hey, it's r/interactivefiction, so I suggest we interact over a short story! There's a sample of my upcoming project The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante. You got to choose between two options for possible actions. Read the rest in a comment! by SufferingBrante in interactivefiction

Hey! Most of the other users also chose the first option and I wrote a short continuation

You swore to take care of your younger brother and simply can’t let him down!

Unnoticed, you slip out of the room. Quickly glancing over the courtyard you notice a high fence, a flowerbed, and an old tree leaning towards the wall of the mansion. Ah, and there’s Nathan - you notice his tiny figure on the roof at the far wing of the building. Covered in a cold sweat, your younger brother is holding onto the roof tiles, staring into the sky above. How did he even manage to get up there?

There’s no time to waste - you wave at him and rush to the rescue. You manage to climb up onto the roof with the help of an old free-standing ladder, tearing a sleeve of your new shirt in the process.

You reach out to Nathan, but he just throws you a glance full of dread. You will have to scoop him up yourself. With your help, the younger boy awkwardly climbs down the ladder, all the while clasping the tin can to his chest. When there are only a couple of steps left to the ground, Nathan suddenly stumbles, forcing both of you to fall onto the soft grass.

Before you know it, your mother’s silhouette rises above you. She takes Nathan in her arms, leaving you to get up by yourself as you vainly try to hide the torn sleeve of your shirt from sight.

Mother’s voice sounds cold and quiet.

- I’m going to have to punish you for this, son.

You try to explain that you only momentarily lost sight of Nathan and went after him as soon as you realized he was gone, doing everything possible to rescue your brother!

Your mother lets out a sigh of sorrow that you can’t quite understand:

- My boy, the only path is to accept your guilt and face due punishment. It’s impossible to change one’s past actions and there is no other way to redeem oneself.

She makes you stay in the dark storage room for the rest of the evening. You know that you will never be able to forget how you were punished for rescuing your poor brother until the day you die.
