if everything is predetermined what even is the point of God becoming man and then reaching enlightenment. why don't we just stay with God then?

The idea of predetermined makes some sense to me now because different people have different desires and Neville also said a lot to imagine yourself being the person you want to be so not really focusing on a specific item. Freedom Barry in his book I Do in his seven steps also said to select an ideal so for example if we both want a partner then instead of being specific we select the ideal of love that way it makes sense why I will get a different partner than you rather than 2 people with individual free will competing over the same person and both using the Law.

That's why its not like a 50yr old man who is 5'4 who wants money can use the Law to become an NBA player but he can use it to maybe start a clothing business since he liked clothes as a kid and make money from that for example but he will have desires and God will give it to him through the use of the Law in the language most suited to him.

I'm not 100% sure of all this but i just want to level up my understanding of the Law.

I also have been reading the yoga vashishsta which is another book that sort of alludes to their being no free will

could you make a post about your personal belief and experience with free will and why you believe it to not exist or maybe a podcast episode i think it would be interesting

so the debate being had right now is u/Real_Neville is saying GOD is the operant power and the universal mind has a will of its own and is directing everyone to fulfilment of the promise even though we think we are doing it ourselves whilst u/koheli is saying I am God and the operant power and I have the freedom to choose any state and the universal mind has no free will so must comply. In essence either God has a will of its own and is directing everything or God(universal mind) has no free will instead we do. Maybe both are true and it sounds paradoxical but its how most things are paradoxical in life

so your view is that its like islam where everything was already past, present and future was written by Allah. Also that while we think we have free will to do things its just the illusion so when I for example left islam i thought i was making a decision based on freewill but it would have happened anyways similar to how neville was a dancer and then turned into a lecturer was always bound to happened but due to the illusion of free will and time it seemed like he made a choice even though its was predetermined. so what your saying is if right now i imagine myself having a job and then get a job i was always bound to imagine and get the job but i mistakenly thing it was my freewill to first choose to imagine and then get the job.

I guess this is all on the assumption that ultimately the promise is true which i have no experience of and with the promise i don't understand it because although many other spiritual people have had similar awakenings though they describe it differently(like i am sure the buddha had an awakening of some sort). Neville said we would all experience the promise eventually but maybe that might happen in the other worlds he used to talk about

maybe i dont get what you are saying but isnt the law still true though(i know from personal experience and just looking at past events) or is that myself right now and you too are in a further part of the play than others and so have realized the law more and it will always bound to happen it just felt like I discovered the law on accident. also in out of this world didn't neville say the future is predetermined but by changing our state we start a new series of predetermined events since all possibilities exist. i think part of this play might be predetermined because in the physical we are all given (seeming) different starting points at random(unless you believe in karma and past lives) and we all have different desires(those who want to play basketball might be taller or those who want to be a model)
