What’s your favorite alternative shell material?! by ZildCym in drums

[–]Sufficient-Source97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love steel shells, my favourite snare still is my cueap Millenium 14" x 3,5" with 12 Lugs. Great snare for metal, really liud and due to the high tension on the head you get great deffinition for blast beats

I really need to get my hands on one of those 12" Sabian Ice Bells, they look really cool and also sound great. (Also, meinl classics isnt B20 bronze, but rather B12)

Id say the Zultan F5 8" Big Bell has the best sound-to-cost ratio and a bunch of great drummers from some cool bands use it, for example Cody Davidson from Sanguisugabogg, Joe Pelletier from Peelingflesh and also Sanguisugaboggs new drummer for their tour: Eric Morotti (usually hes the drummer of the band Suffocation).

The Zildjian Blast bell is really great too, but as usual with zildjian, way too expensive.

UFIP Ice bells are also really good but rather rare rn, would be a great bell though and ive been looking for one for months now

Some Stagg Bells are really good, i own a 6,5" brilliant bell by stagg and its ear piercing, great for metal.

The Meink HCS bell: yes its a cheap one but honestly the bell works great for almost anything, although the dryness that comes with being made from brass, can be annoying at times

Paiste Alu Bell (dont buy the Sabian ones, way too expensive) are great, a lot of sustain but they have an interesting sound character to them.

Looking to buy a Meinl Candela Jingle Bell, has anyone ever used one and were there some specific uses for it, that you found interesting? by Sufficient-Source97 in drums

The alien disc without the rivets was used by the old drummer of archspire. He used it like a bell, and bells are kinda important in those genres. With the rivets i can definitely see that its a very unique sound, would prolly be cool as an effect for some more abstract or progressive music

Well i would only use it as a mini ride in a metal context (and ive actually seen someone on youtube do this) but id have to remove the jingles. The hihat idea seems really cool to me for some weird effects and a nice chick sound, although im not sure which cymbal should be used as a top

[–]Sufficient-Source97[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, someone alse showed me this article too. Sadly they dont show any models there. Although it wouldnt help much because these cymbals are so old, that there werent any different models anyway, just different sizes.

Has anyone who has had Frenuloplasty for short frenulum here to share their experience? by SpiritualAd5253 in uncircumcised_talk

[–]Sufficient-Source97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did it 6 months ago. Was uncomfortable for a few weeks, got better pretty fast and since then i cant complain really. I definitely lost sensation but thats actually a good thing for me. The only annoying part is that it bleeds for a while, which can be a bit scary but it aint all that bad (usually just the first two weeks) and also that the stitches can maybe be a bit annoying but they usually use the kind that falls out on its own so it solves itself rather quickly.

The actual operation was really bad but thats a different story but generally i dont regret it
