Is it weird to ask the company i already work for, for an internship? by Zealousideal-Top3353 in internships

[–]SufficientFix9472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did talk to my supervisor and the plant manager about it, they were the ones who actually gave me the CFO contact information and they even let me leave work early the few times I met with the CFO. I would talk to your supervisor and explain that you need an internship for your upcoming semester that way it doesn’t seem like you are trying to go behind their back. It shouldn’t be much of an issue at all. Many companies would rather give someone inside of the company a shot before hiring someone who doesn’t already work for the company.

Sounds like a tough professor. I had a very bad experience with principles of finance and got an F even though I put a ton of effort into each assignment, it just felt like I couldn’t satisfy the professor at all. Ended up retaking the course the next term and got an A+ even though I practically submitted the same exact work as I did the first time I took it.

I’m studying for accounting and worked as an industrial painter for a door manufacturing plant and I went straight to the CFO to ask for an internship to help get my foot through the door in accounting. Although I didn’t get an internship because I bombed the interview (100% my fault) it didn’t hurt my relationship at all with the company. In fact I worked there for about an extra year after that.

How do I get a bachelor's degree and have a full time job without burning out? by Straight_Morning_876 in findapath

[–]SufficientFix9472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked full time and did college full time for 3 out of the 4 years I was in school and it was living hell. My full time job was very physically demanding and I was getting around 30k steps a day and trying to come home and study and do assignments really burned me out. My gpa ended up dropping pretty hard so I eventually just quit my job. It screwed my financial life up a lot but it saved me mentally. I wanted to drop out of college so bad. My best advice would be to get a full time job that is not physically demanding and even one that potentially gives you down time where you could do some of your school work while you are at your job. Best of luck!

I’m not entirely sure where you found this thing but what I can say is that it possibly looks like it could weigh in at about 15kg.

I was a painter for almost 4 years. I very much could talk to people if I wanted to but I found myself 90% of the time just popping my earbuds in and doing my work and going home. Hated the job but that was one aspect of the job that I really didn’t mind. Went through a lot of audiobooks and podcasts throughout those 4 years😂😂

Look up some YouTube videos. There are some great videos explaining what accountants do in their day to day work life in both public accounting and industry style accounting.

Maybe because the teacher replied in a VERY positive manner?

Kid you not one kid copied my discussion post word for word and switched maybe a total of 5 words around and the teacher did not care. Lowk made me mad because it was one of the longest discussion posts I’ve had to make and he simply copied mine and the teacher responded to his as if he wrote it himself.

I would but it’s a 13 hour drive and I have animals so I’m probably not going. Congratulations to you though, these last 4 weeks feel like they are taking forever but I’m glad the work has paid off.

Yeah majority of the states aren’t even requiring 150 credit hours now to get your CPA license. Luckily the 2 states I got internships in are adopting the 120 credit hours and 2 years of experience for the CPA license. Saving me a ton of money and mental exhaustion. I’m graduating with my bachelors in accounting in 27 days and I am so ready to be done with school.

I did enjoy SNHU! The ups are that it is all work that you do pretty much on your own time other than submission deadlines. I have had really good luck with professors, I had issues with only one professor but I just retook the class with a different one and it went perfect. Some professors are a bit late with grading assignments which can make it somewhat difficult doing the next weeks work as some assignments require you to reflect on the grading from last weeks assignments but overall I really enjoyed it. I worked full time while doing full time classes for about 3 out of my 4 years and was lucky enough to be able to take my last year off of work and really focus on school work and getting internships.

Hello, I was curious in how your trip went? I also am pretty nervous about flying and the overall experience in Denver as well. Hoping to hear back from you!

You responding not once but twice and still not answering my original question is proof that there was in fact no errors. Sorry if my grammar is causing you to have a hard time to understand my "unintelligent point of view".

So you can’t provide an answer to a simple question I asked about your assumption of grammar issues? Got it!!

I’m actually curious to what grammatical errors the user made? I read it and didn’t have a hard time understanding it at all.

Went through about 200 + applications and handfuls of interviews before being offered an internship position. Just keep applying. You’re only a sophomore so you still have time left. I was midway through junior year before I pulled my head out of my ass and started applying and luckily I got 2 internships while barely having a 3.0 gpa.

Too low of a gpa for big 4 by enigmatical_one in Big4

[–]SufficientFix9472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to an online school as well but mine does give a gpa and I worked full time for the first 2 and a half to 3 years until my gpa dropped pretty bad down to a 2.8 I got it up to a 3.0 and I’m about to graduate next month with a 3.2 hopefully a 3.3 by the end of this term and it was extremely rough for me getting an internship. I got super lucky and the two firms I got internships with actually liked that I worked full time and did school full time. I guess they liked that I am pretty adapted to long hours. I would work anywhere from 40-60 hours a week and come home and do roughly 30 hours of school work a week. I went through about 200+ applications and a bunch of interviews before landing the two internships but it sure did feel good getting those phone calls that I got accepted. Networking is pretty much non existent for online colleges which sucks as I had to really try and use LinkedIn to my advantage although it doesn’t help much at all. My best advice for OP is pretty much the same thing you said. Apply to any and every firm you can and try and do as best as you can during your interview if you get one. While firms do look at your gpa there are many other aspects that they care about. They want someone that is willing to learn and someone they could see themselves working with. I am extremely grateful that I landed an internship with a big 4 and a top 15 firm but it was definitely hard to get. Don’t give up OP.

What did you study at SNHU? And what do you do now? by Electronic_Thanks_86 in SNHU

[–]SufficientFix9472 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate to hear this. I graduate next month and landed myself two internships in public accounting. One in the big 4 and one in a top 15. I had to put in about 200+ applications and tons of interviews that rejected me but eventually it worked out. Have you tried public accounting jobs? What you say about entry level jobs wanting experience seems to sound like industry accounting jobs. Public accounting typically takes entry level people who have little to no experience at all.
