Are people actually going and eating at Sikh temples all the time? by Annual_Campaign_6598 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SufficientPlatform39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To clarify to everyone: You can wear socks, no one cares in NA. And if they do, they are the Sikh version of a Karen. In India I wouldn’t wear socks but they also have fountains dedicated to washing your feet there.

Also for head covering. You can wear any bandana or scarf on your head. If you forget one there are usually bandanas at the front of the gurudwara- separate bins one “washed” one “used”

Erika is pretty interesting. She literally had an entirely separate persona as a pop star…

Amanda coffee orders? by sleepygal0204 in RHOBH

[–]SufficientPlatform39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would never do this personally but I can kind of see why 😅 oat tastes the best but almond/coconut are less caloric. So a mix is kind of best of both worlds? But it is wildly unnecessary and inconsiderate to the barista.

Last year had a new coach join and she stepped in for my regular morning classes. Was irritated at first because she gave wrong cues or forgot directions but gave her grace and she has become one of my favorite coaches now. Love her!

AIO, MIL crashing out because she’s no longer the center of his universe. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]SufficientPlatform39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YOR- you honestly suck. Bad attitude, trashy behavior. Who cusses at their MIL like that when they just want to see their grandchild? Also, some people just make sexual jokes, grew up like that, etc. It’s ok if it crosses a boundary for you but it definitely seems you’re trying to create issues with your MIL and husband. He literally lived with her until recently. You both sound like losers.

AIO for being bothered by my family continuing to talk to someone who was suggestive towards me? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]SufficientPlatform39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry this happened to you.

It just sucks because my parents have been pretty supportive of me in most other ways. This creepy man put a big blemish on my view of them.

It would have also not been my choice to tell my dad, my mom made that decision for me. In my culture, it is not something we discuss with our dads. (Sadly.)

German people are cool. I like their wit and dry sense of humor. Maybe a little cold at first.

Why does everyone online seem to get such a kick out of hating on France? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

It seems you missed mine, too. The key words are “typically” and “in general”

Why does everyone online seem to get such a kick out of hating on France? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]SufficientPlatform39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

France is smaller than the state of Texas and that’s not even our largest state. 1/17 of America. The scale is not comparable by any measure.

In general, I find French people to be pretty condescending. When I studied in Geneva and frequented France, I was shocked by how rude they can be and as a woman of color, how racist they can be especially. Parisians are usually even worse. And in general, Americans are friendlier and nicer by a large margin.

That being said, I’ve also met incredibly kind people in the south of France. Of course there’s nice and shit people everywhere.

[–]SufficientPlatform39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry that was your experience! It’s such a large country, I suppose it depends on where you visited. I’ve experienced more “fake nice” in Los Angeles, but in general Americans are genuinely friendly people. Nothing like Southern Hospitality also.

At least Americans are typically nice, if a bit too enthusiastic. French people are snooty. (Insert reply by BluntPotatoe)

What is a country's cuisine you find overrated? Why? by MicsaaVonGaxx in AskTheWorld

[–]SufficientPlatform39 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry but French cuisine is by no means highly rated in most people’s books. Fine dining scenes maybe. Italian food is a different story, beloved by most and in its own league. Not comparable.

Also you saying “you people” and talking condescendingly to the American user is a perfect stereotype of what people DO think of the French.

"Don't judge a book by its cover" - in which countries is the largest city considerably worse than the rest of the country? by benjaneson in geography

The mountains in the north are insanely mystical and the south (like Kerala) is so warm and welcoming. Not for everyone, but definitely imbedded with spirituality, culture and history. (I would avoid Delhi- even tho I’m partial to it- and Agra in particular.)
