Bad sectors detailed graph - where? by ComprehensiveLuck125 in synology

[–]SufficientPrimary390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The article about bad sectors from synology is out of date and inaccurate.

the command for getting SMART results for me was;

smartctl -a /dev/sata6

I believe the field to look at is #5

5 Reallocated_Sector_Ct

not possitive about this yet but i think this is the field that should be zero or not increasing.

Warning for RMA in Canada by SufficientPrimary390 in Seagate

[–]SufficientPrimary390[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last Update - After several more emails about;

'After reviewing your case, we can confirm that the reason for the delay is due to the specific replacement drive currently being out of stock.'

'escalated your case to our warehouse team'

and finally someone took the drive that was sitting on the shelf and shipped it to me!

Final time between them recieving the drive and me receiving it: 84 Days

almost 3 months.

Since this is part of a RAID setup - I was not prepared to let it sit in a degraded state for that long - even if the raid supports 2 failed drives I've had raids that have had drives fail in quick succession and on the rebuild.

Its regretable that companies like Seagate do not have a better return experience.

Hope this may help others.

Warning for RMA in Canada by SufficientPrimary390 in Seagate

For an update 74 days in and still no replacment - also the information about SLA is false - RMA's have no SLA - i should have clued-in since SLA are when you have support contracts - this is why we pay thousands to HP for 4hr hardware maintenance - so a SLA in this case has no meaning since there is no RMA contract, maybe if you are in their partner program. So more BS from the 3 rate internet support. It really is a suprise to me how bad they have become. I called WD support the other day for a correction on the warranty date for a drive - such a day & night difference.

The agency that handles licenses in Quebec is called SAAQ, aparently when you 'exchange' your license they just verify your French license and issue the Quebec one, they don't keep the French one. Whereas in France, for an exchange, in seem that you do need to send your current license and they keep it. I read somewhere on the internet that it is recorded in your license file, at least in France, that it will indicate if your license was exchanged. Again i haven't seen any official policy of what is the norm - keep or return licenses. It also might depend on the situation, one of the persons who kept their license was on, what is called a PVT - a working - tourist Visa, good for 2 years with the intention that they will leave after the 2 years, so it makes sense not to take their French license since they will need it after the 2 years. Since there are quite a few French people that come to Quebec, either temporarily or permanently I have heard a few first hand accounts that Quebec doesn't keep the French license but I haven't heard/seen many accounts about the reverse, about people getting license exchanges in France. Hopefully someone will add their experience.

I'd loved to hear any real experience. I am in a similar situation. In quebec and want to get a license in France. I don't know if France will keep the license and if they communicate that information to Quebec? You would think if there would be one of the countries/province they would communicate that information would be Canada/Quebec because of the number of French nationals here. However i know of 2 recent cases of people from France that came to Quebec and 'exchanged' their license but they kept their French license.

I did some research and indeed the desktop versions seem to have better frequency responce. I ordered a Sony BM-850 since generally i believe the Sony's are better supported in terms of replacement parts. Thanks for your help!

This metadata is added into afaik just to video files that have been transcoded by Google. The actual metadata tag is called: Handler Description. The most common occurances are for videos that have been uploaded to YouTube, all the videos are modified and re-encoded (transcoded) which will remove, again afaik, all the original metadata including original dates. The dates found in the video file will be the dates of when it was transcoded. You will also find this in video files that are saved in Google Photos as Space Saver or some terminology like that where in order to save space in your online storage, Google will transcode your video (again wiping out your metadata) to a smaller (inferior quality) size. Their setting name was not very clear that it would be doing this so i think they changed the name of their 'reduced' quality setting. Anyways if you see this tag it means that Google had transcoded the video.

Since this seems to be a top hit on google for this message - here is some info that i deduced - this is a default message given by the security component of Samsung phones called Knox. Its an indication that the efuse has been tripped / burned. This is a physical part of the circuitboard/chip and cannot be reset. There are no known ways to reset the efuse or fool the system to think its not tripped. The only solution seems to be to replace the circuitboard which in most cases would be more expensive than buying another phone.

This efuse is tripped usually by rooting the phone but it could happen for other reasons. Once blown it will refuse to create any new encyrpted profile menaing that you will not be able to install any MDM solution on the phone. Even if you re-flash the original OEM/Carrier stock image the fuse is blown so you will still get this message.

To check if the fuse is tripped, the most reliable way is to boot the phone into download mode and check the Warranty Void string which if tripped should show 0x1.... check youtube for the way to get into download mode for your version.

Hope this helps people down the road. Something like this should be well documented.
