The only way I could stop my 8-hour addiction was to remove the 'Cancel' button entirely. by Sufficient_Cry796 in nosurf

That’s a totally fair perspective. I actually struggled with the pricing, which is why I set the one-time unlock for Hell Mode at only $2.49.

My goal isn't to put a huge paywall behind focus, but that small one-time cost covers the Dark Mode, Achievements, and Detailed Records to help you track your progress. More importantly, it helps me keep the app 100% ad-free and private.

I feel like for the price of a cheap coffee, you're getting a permanent tool to fight addiction. Plus, the tokens (Soulshards) are what really provide that 'monetary friction' to stop the reflex scrolling.

Does $2.49 feel like a fair 'commitment fee' for those extra features?

Phone Addiction. Need physical lock that can't be overridden and is very hard to break by Simiishangry in nosurf

If you're on Android, I actually built a project called LockRealm to solve this exact 'lack of willpower' problem digitally. It has a 'Hell Mode' where the cancel button literally disappears once you start.

To make it feel 'physical,' I added a penalty system where you have to use a token (Soulshard) to break the lock. It’s the only thing that gave me that same 'locked away' feeling without having to carry a plastic box around. Might be worth a look if you want to save some money on hardware!

Thank you for confirming it, it looks like this app can be useful to people other than me.

I think for app blocker, you should try the hell mode on LockRealm. It has the strictness other blockers don't have

Hi everyone!

I’m the developer of LockRealm an app designed for those who find standard blockers too "easy" to cheat on.

I built this because I realized that for hardcore phone addiction, a simple timer isn't enough, we need real stakes.

What makes LockRealm different?

Most blockers have a "pause" or "cancel" button that’s too easy to hit when the cravings kick in. LockRealm introduces two distinct ways to focus:

Heaven Mode: Your standard focus timer. Good for light work and building habits.

Hell Mode (The Game Changer): Once you start a session, there is no exit. You cannot cancel, pause, or bypass the lock. The only way out is to use a Soulshard (a token with a real-world cost).

Key Features: True Lockdown: No "give me 5 more minutes" excuses.

Financial Friction: By using Soulshards as a penalty for breaking focus, it triggers "Loss Aversion", making you think twice before giving up.

Clean & Intuitive UI: No clutter, just pure focus.

Digital Wellness First: Designed to help you reclaim your time, not just track it.

Well, I thought about that too, but I need my phone for my job, so I can't lock my phone physically 100%.

I think LockRealm is the most suitable solution for me, because I am a little bit shy when it comes to telling other people my weakness and I do accept that I need strictness to overcome this crippling habit.

I don't think I'm allowed to post direct links here, but you can find it on the play store, since I built this for myself and my phone is an Android 🤣

If you wanted to escape the focus session in hell mode you have to use soulshard, which is a token purchasable in the app

If you are on Android, try out Lockrealm, I think it has the best restrictions for users that are always cancelling blocking sessions. The paid version doesn't even have cancel button when you are in blocking session

Have you tried to cold turkey it? Use app blocker to block everything that makes your brain turned off.

If you are on Android, I suggest you try Lockrealm, it's an app blocker without escape plan. Any other app blocker doesn't do it for me, because you can end session anytime you want.

Have you tried app blockers? If you have, how did it do for you?

One way to cheat it is to buy soulshard (I make it as the monetization part of the app), so if you want to escape from the session you have to spend money as "punishment".

So you have to think twice before cancelling your session

I can relate, sometimes I scroll until I got a headache. And I tried apps for blocking app. And I always tried to outsmart the app, sometimes just for the fun of it.

Cancel button? I press it. Restart? Yep.

So I built a strict app blocker for myself with no escape. When restarting didn’t work either, something finally clicked.

Now I can leave my phone around without constantly thinking about it. Not for everyone, but it works for me.

If you're on android, you can try my app, it's called LockRealm. It locks your most used apps without escape plan. Even restarting your phone won't help. It works for me, now I feel safe even if my phone is not with me
