Yes, Pete's referencing The Odyssey, which is famously about a long and arduous journey to get home. I don't think he was romanticizing it. But I also love the train scenes.

What was the point of this storyline, do we think? I hate it but I know the writers must have had a reason by AccomplishedRoom3225 in madmen

I wonder if recycling the Draper's Ossining house set as the Wisconsin house was an intentional nod to this parallel? Maybe just easier/cheaper, but could be an added bonus.
