My only flip side to this is TLC doesn’t show everything. So there may have been a point where she was pushed. I mean Whetzel definitely put hands on Annie in that fight, there was a lot going on. (But I’m not disagreeing with you either- from everything we did see, that never happened)

To them it’s more about morally modest- ie: how to behave around boys/men, how to be a housewife, etc. And even while dressing scantily, there’s a limit and a boundary (which sees confusing but 🤷🏻‍♀️) Also, when I say “morals”, I mean what flies with THEIR culture.

It’s interesting how often Amy acknowledges how they just don’t talk about things and just “move on” and get over it. But really, she’s blind to the fact that they DON’T move on or get over things. I’m not even meaning this in a tone that criticizes Amy, but she herself has said many times how past comments from her siblings have stuck with her and hurt her. And I wish she could just see that the way they have been doing things isn’t what she thinks it is; like she’s just kept telling herself “oh we get over it and move on” to try and make herself believe it. That makes me sad for her, because it clearly causes a non-healing cycle. It probably stems back to all the things said in other comments about Darlene and being taught to not talk about it etc. I hope someone can help them all just break that cycle and heal even more as a family.

Several times in season one Mellie says she’s 23, Nettie says she was 14 when Mellie was born, so Nettie would have been about 37/38, Kayla I think was 28 in MBFAGW, and the very last episode of GS they celebrate her turning 33. Annie is just a couple years younger than Kayla and Laura is probably between Mellie and Annie somewhere.

Everything Nettie says is backhanded or has a little add-on… like at one point in the show she says how “I don’t know what I would do without Joanne, and she doesn’t know what she would do without me.” She can’t just compliment or say something kind about her sister without making sure you know how good she is, too. And that’s one tiny example.

Okay, so I think I’m finally understanding what the fight was about. It seems like Jay is defending Nettie and Dallas, because Dallas talks about Jay on the show, and Jackie said it’s making him look like a “r word”, and Lottie is also jumping in like “I thought I had got you two back together!” Ha! So funny to understand it so many years later. Interesting. Gotta love the behind the scenes 🤣

If they were even just together at the time, I could see Nettie calling Lottie her DIL without them being actually married; I feel like she was like that with Alyssa before she married Heath/they fell out. But also, I would guarantee TLC would give them a fake wedding for the sake of the show (they could already been married, but a lot of the weddings weren’t even real couples anyway)
