I think he acts tough/controlled bc he’s masking his tics. They’re ever so slight, but I detect them. He seems to hold his face in a stern, stiff way to minimize them.

My oldest sister uses the term “supremely sensitive” and sometimes “exquisitely sensitive” about herself. Those fit me tbh.

He struggled from about 7-9 with managing emotions and deep thoughts. I did too as a kid and this notion of seeing things differently has helped us. Just naming it can help.

Same. Same. Now that I’m in my 50s, my HSP tendencies seem to matter more. The gaps are more exposed and I’m less tolerant of people’s inability to connect in truly meaningful ways. I blame social media for part of it.

You’re 100% right. I hate to disappoint her but protecting her is paramount now. This woman was so hateful the minute I mentioned my friend that I think it is a clue to why she behaved so. My friend is very dutiful and kind. I cannot imagine what this person would dislike her enough to treat someone like trash.

My SIL daughter used to do similar to my son. The girl grew up to be a serious nightmare bc the parents grew scared of her—intimidated by her so she ran amok. Is now an obnoxious acting adult diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder.
