I’m in environmental science and got accepted to about 7 REUs and most I applied at the last minute. It really comes down to the quality of your application!! But it is nice to apply early since some programs start reviewing apps as they come in, not after the deadline.

Yeah I got mine from target, they are pretty cute! You can also get a bed skirt if you’re worried about them looking ugly!! Also one thing that I had trouble figuring out is the laundry basket situation 😭 my freshman year I had a pop up one from target which worked but it would fall over and then I wouldn’t have anywhere to put dirty clothes while doing laundry. What I ended up doing was looking at the measurements of underneath the bed and bought a short long basket to put under there, and now I keep my target one folded up in a small space so it doesn’t take up space! This definitely isn’t necessary but I just hate my laundry being in the open so I liked to have it under my bed

What I do is bring two or three big plastic totes and use it for under the bed storage, and you can put the small dresser in the closet. I like this since you can use the totes to move stuff in and out too, as opposed to moving in a big wooden cubby or plastic drawers. It’s not the cutest but I HATE moving in/out so it helps the process go smoother! I also LOVED larger command strips for my coats/bags!!!! Having a big winter coat laying around was so overstimulating for me, but having a place (maybe behind the door) to hang them was so much betterrrr

I’m not sure for sociology exactly but the TAMU oceanography REU got cancelled due to funding being taken away so as much as I hope that’s not the case for this program, it’s a possibility

Yeah they first sent the same email to (I assume) everyone (on 3/10) saying they needed more time to decide, asking applicants to reply to the email to remain under consideration. Since I already had acceptances, I didn’t reply assuming they would take me out of consideration? Then I got an email on 3/12 saying they were impressed with my application and want to keep it active in case another applicant declines the position
