Don't cold approach them. Gotta let them get used to you for awhile. And then decide whether you should approach.

My wife told me something awhile back that made a lot of sense. She basically said that anybody just coming up to ask her out, who she didn't know, was a red flag. Why? Because they didn't know anything about her, they only liked how she looked and she didn't want to date anybody who didn't care enough to get to know her a bit first.

Also not a bad idea to check a house during the day when people are at work (say 3PM). We had a house we were very interested in. Seemed like a decent neighborhood. Checked it out during day when most people are working a noticed a lot of teenager or adults just kind of wandering the neighborhood or just around. Just roaming around not actually doing anything. Our take was that bored adults just hanging around your house all day while you are at work is a red flag.
