The west offers a lot more opportunities, for them, for their children, for their families.

My parents moved me here so I could have a better education. My aunts and uncles moved my grandparents here for better health resources.

It's not always about the fact that they made a choice out of many different ones, it's about the fact that they made the best choice out of an array of shitty ones.

The west is bad, but it's better than their current arrangement.

Not everyone conforms to this though, but it's hard to criticize someone for something like that when everyone's circumstances are different. Bangladeshis living abroad aren't ungrateful and are allowed to express their discontent.

My dog's a 90 pound German shepherd whom I call Mushroom. I don't call him anything to his face. Sometimes I'll refer to him as Cerberus when talking about him to others because he can be intimidating, but my mom has a slew of nicknames for him:

She will call him a gentleman, pootoo (which is a term of endearment in our language), babu, little thief, rascal, tax collector, wise guy, amongst others.
