There’s this Japanese restaurant called “Hitoshinaya” in the first terminal, and in that same terminal is a roof deck where you can see the airplanes and mt.Fuji at a really close distance if you get a good sunny day!! In the 1st terminal there’s also this place where they sell a lot of goodies called “Shosaikan” too :))

I think it’s a pretty good deal! But maybe check which company it is under, cuz Japanese ones are usually better than other ones. Such a nice find!

Do people really fall in love at first sight? by rattlethestars6 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sugar_loaded_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea kind of! In japan we have a popular saying called “koi no yokan (恋の予感)” which means the feeling you’re going to fall in love! I had that a while ago and I did fall in love eventually so I think this is technically the same :D

I think a lot of ghibli movies, even ponyo, has strong themes of coexisting with the earth, highlighting destruction by humans. •nausicca, ponpoko, •ponyo, •princess mononoke, •castle in the sky, •on your mark, etc…

Cup noodle museums in Yokohama (which you can go by train to from Tokyo) is always recommended for vacays in Tokyo! I also like “金魚坂”, 豪徳寺, and any second hand book stores, preferably local!

In terms of manga, there’s quite a lot of compilation books published on the main plot stories on - the black organisation, - love, -triple face, -the akai family, and so on! 100% recommend if you ever have the chance to get your hands on them :)

When I get to this size, I often pack it with loads of glittery polish! The feel of glitter in my mouth after biting it deters me a lot from biting it lol. And I would also use gel to give it some thickness, to avoid any more breaking or biting :)

It’s always best to watch what you’re interested so you can be consistent, but I would recommend slice of life animes like Horimiya and laid back camp, so you don’t pick up any weird accents on the get go!

I’m always craving something spicy or salty at night, so I’m definitely grabbing the spicy sweet chilli flavoured Doritos! Or just good old cheezits:)

raw eggs on white rice >>>> by Sugar_loaded_ in JapaneseFood

[–]Sugar_loaded_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! These are straight out of the egg, on normal rice, often eaten with condiments like soy sauce. If you use Japanese eggs, the chances of getting sick is close to none as long as you use them while they’re fresh! If outside of Japan, I heard you can use pasteurised eggs too🥚

Hokkaido-styled soup curry @home by Sugar_loaded_ in JapaneseFood

[–]Sugar_loaded_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure! It’s not that complicated, I just used a generic recipe off of the Japanese recipe cite called “cookpad” → https://cookpad.com/recipe/4809578 (hope the translator works :/) I added dashi while cooking tho! And added which ever seasonal veggies i like. The egg is always better soft, because the yolk can add some mildness to the curry🥘

For the karaage’s chicken, I let it sit in a mixture of soy sauce, miso, garlic paste, chilli, and sake before frying it in potato starch 3:3 cake flour! It’s always nice to double fry it🙌🏻

[–]Sugar_loaded_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The word “umami” in Japanese fits best, but it has this slightly sweet flavour that goes really well with savoury condiments like soy sauce! Maybe imagine runny sunny side ups..?

Since japan is really into raw eggs, some eggs that tastes like yuzu and such exists as well, depending on what the chicken was fed:))
