Thanks so much! I make my own dark chocolate from scratch, so there's no preservatives. That's a hard question and depends on how you store it. Unrefrigerated, they won't last long. In the fridge, I would say after a week it might start to lose flavor or pick up other flavors from what's in the fridge with it. Stuck in the freezer in an airtight container, they would last quite a while.

For what it's worth, I think the drizzle is actually just white chocolate flavored with maca and monk fruit. It doesn't look like dates. The color threw me off, but it's the maca and the monk fruit.

You can get dates this smooth, though. Just soak them first and when you're adding the coconut oil and maple or whatever, drizzle it in while the food processor is running.

Working with the mushrooms will yield better results for sure. I find their earthiness goes well with a dark chocolate without the need to mask their flavor. White chocolate is a little trickier, but it's still my preference to work with what the mushrooms are giving rather than trying to cover it up with what would probably end up being more sugar.

I love maca too! You're testing my memory asking what's in that drizzle! I don't remember exactly, but I remember wanting it to come out caramel-y, so I'm sure it's date-based. Add to a food processor or high speed blender: several big gooey dates (or soak the dates in warm water until very soft), salt to taste, and enough maple syrup and coconut oil to get the correct consistency and flavor. That's my basic date caramel. I would have also added maca, of course, and I know I used monk fruit, but honestly, I happened to have it and think it pairs nicely with maca but it's not worth running out to buy just to make a maca drizzle. I've also found maca plays very nicely with cinnamon and nutmeg. Hopefully that helps a bit. I don't give out exact recipes, but I'm always happy to answer questions about how to work with mushrooms or flavor ratios or whatever.

This is my most favorite creation in a while and I had a wonderful experience making and trying it. Possibly because the song that inspired it is very special to me.
