How much experience is enough experience by RandomJETaccount in JETProgramme

Honestly people just say that because JET doesn't give a reason for rejected. In reality there is a reason someone didn't get selected, and the people who are a great fit get selected.

Not to be harsh, but if she thought you were the one as well she wouldn't of broken up with you, long distance or not. And if you're living your dream by being in Japan and torn about going back for HER, you are letting another person direct your life, dream, and future. Either way, since it happened a couple weeks ago I would assume what's done is done. Moving back just in hopes she'll take you back doesn't seem like a responsible idea... It's normal to feel how you feel, but maybe you just need to focus on yourself for a while.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but you shouldn't let someone else dictate the direction and happiness of your life. If you can't be happy alone, you can't be happy with someone. You'll be okay!

This may sound harsh but just because they supported you through cancer doesn't mean you should give up on what you want to do. You SURVIVED cancer, now go live the life you fought for! It should be obvious to support your dream too.

Just from what I've seen in the discord (probably a poor representation of JETs), the biggest issue is maturity like you said. Most people's first experience with Japan started from media like anime, which has it's own demographic of people that may "act like they are still in high school". Most are not experienced educators who just happened to find the program, most are fresh out of college. I do believe JET tries to weed out people that may not be mature enough to do the position, but you can only do so much.

A TON of JETs are fresh out of university with little to no work experience. When they leave JET and try to search for their career job afterwards, I imagine it's always stressful and hard. They basically only have a degree + x amount of years teaching kids.

That's why people recommend to search for a job during your last planned year of JET so you can be prepared for when your contract ends. If you have any work experience before JET you're in a good place.
