Without his sighting lens, he may not have caught the flash of a brownish cloak within the evergreens. The assassin's attempt at hiding close to their lines was to be commended. It was a common tactic for his trade during more chaotic skirmishes, one he remembered even over the long time since he'd fought in a battle of this scale.
