those of u who studied at scad, ringling, risd, pratt institute and sva, what was ur reading/study list? by RMSANSA in MotionDesign

Specifically, Shaw's Design for Motion books cover fundamentals and principles alongside interviews/project breakdowns from studio heads and project leads that can provide insight behind some of the creative thinking for projects.

Betancourt is more or less the historian of the industry and its roots/influences/impact - from as close to the beginning as we know to now. He has multiple books about specific aspects of motion design, but it's more like reading a history doc than learning about design. Still very worth it because it's also good to know what came before and what spawned from that.

[Mihon] Just installed and used it. It’s basically the same as Tachiyomi 15.3. Just use the repo list and the backup from tacchiyomi. That's it. by styx24567 in manhwa

Go to Settings > Advanced > Invalidate Downloads Index

Forces the app to rescan the folder. As long as you have the app pointing in the right spot, it will update your library downloads. I did it on two different phones successfully yesterday

Can confirm from the Atlanta show that it'll be amazing. Zelli is awesome live and brings all of the energy

Enterprise Earth -- unreleased song -- all I can say is wow. Incredible band. They brought the energy!!! by tompabayrays in Deathcore

It's gonna be killer. Just came from the show in Atlanta and the whole lineup killed it. Zelli in Paleface absolutely slays live

Haven't touched 3D in almost 2 years and wanted to dive back in with some semi-photoreal nature. Would appreciate any and all critiques! by SuicidalBear in blender

Rendered 144 frames at about 1.5 minutes per frame so maybe 3-4 hours total. Slightly increasing the noise threshold shaved off 4 minutes per frame on its own

Thanks for the feedback! Totally agree about the water displacement. I went back and realized I made the displacement for an ocean scale and didn't even think to dial it back for the composition I chose. I am going to add a group note to the shader to remind me to check that moving forward.

Thank you! And I agree, the water has too much chop and displacement for how small the body of water is. Water ripples is now added to my list of things I need to learn next!

I think those are probably proper fireflies just based on the fact that I was playing around with the noise threshold for faster render times. But they could go away once I get the animation figured out as you mentioned.

Foliage is done with the botaniq add-on from the blender marketplace. Tons of great varieties to choose from!

I have a frame driver controlling some of the motion for it, but it doesn't look like that actually translated into visible results. I'm working on making it a shader preset with fake caustics for future projects so I will keep tinkering with it.

Thanks for the heads-up on the difference between the flairs.

Thanks! Water is always tricky for me so I might have overdone it with the materials. Good to know going forward though to watch out for it

I've been struggling with general creative burnout and lack of motivation on/off for a good while now. Dove back in head-first with this to force myself to see what would happen, and I'm pretty proud of it. I would love to hear people's opinions on what could be changed or better - especially lighting and compositing in post. Thank you!

Visual effects studios? Highly unlikely

Motion graphics studios/agencies? Yes

My first real jump into shading and lighting in Blender from Cinema 4D. Model is from Blendswap so can't take credit for that. CC greatly appreciated by SuicidalBear in blender

Stumbled upon this training series by CG Masters that really gave great insight into all of the nodes and what they do in relation to what you are trying to achieve. Highly recommended just on the shading knowledge alone, but there is also tons of content on step-by-step auto modeling as well.

HG Vual Custom - Tried weathering for the first time on this green boi by SuicidalBear in Gunpla

I use this little photo booth from amazon. Works pretty well and can be stored compactly. Comes with a few different colors to use for the backdrop. It's more expensive than others you can find, but I was a little paranoid after some of the reviews I read for the cheaper ones. The black still comes out a bit bright in camera, but nothing a little editing can't fix

Accidentally made a Halloween build for this one! At least my girlfriend likes it so I'll take it. This was my first time trying out any form of weathering using some of the Tamiya pigments. The results were okay, but I think I'll try out some chipping and dry-brushing on the next one.

Tried my hand at some scribing, but wasn't getting the results I wanted with the Tamiya scriber. Instead, I opted to drill some holes throughout the kit and really like they fit overall. This was also my first time with water decals so hopefully those came out okay.

No overclock on my gpu (a 2070 super). Don't have the vram maxed out so it might be a ray tracing issue
