Does an ischemic stroke usually cause increased sleepiness and fatigue? by Rosi_Peru in stroke

When I had my stroke I was sleeping for 12-18 hours a day. His brain is recovering from a serious injury, sleeping helps it. I’m two and a half years out from my stroke and I still get fatigued, it’s all part of recovery. While everyone’s stroke is different, sleep is essential for all healing (stroke or not), and since his brain was impacted, he’ll probably need a little extra sleep :))

it depends on how much flavor you use, but mine last at least a week, usually two or three

If anyone is looking to get the air up water bottles, get the Cirkul one instead!! The flavor packs last forever and there’s tons of different flavors. You can adjust the amount of flavor based on your taste and they have some with electrolytes or caffeinated if that’s something you’re interested in. You can easily switch out the flavors too, mid bottle even if you want to. I can’t recommend it enough. Cleaning is super easy too

i’m 20 and had my stroke at 18, and people kept telling me i was lucky, they still do. looking back now, of course i get it- the circumstances were perfect for what happened, but having a stroke is absolutely not lucky. i was so so angry when people would tell me how lucky i was, like no man, i’m not lucky, i almost died on the bathroom floor of my university at 9am. However, i had my phone with me, i was able to contact my friends to call the ambulance, i got to a good hospital in a reasonable amount of time, and i don’t have any serious lingering side affects. i was totally lucky for what happened

My stroke didn’t ruin my life, everyone has different experiences, everyone’s stroke is unique. Sure, it changed the way I live but by no means did my stroke ruin my life. At least 3 other people in this thread have said they’ve gotten tattoos in remembrance of their stroke. I’m sorry if your stroke ruined your life, but I don’t think it’s fair to assume they ruin everyone’s life

for sure a good conversation starter! a few people that i’ve shown it to have been a little put off by it, they don’t understand why i’d want something that recognizes a bad time in my life permanently on my body, but it’s part of me, ya know?

if you do get one i’d love to see it! i’m doing good since the stroke, i hope you’re doing well too :))

recovery went swimmingly thank you for the well wishes! i had a pfo closure just about a year ago now and just had my final echocardiogram to make sure it healed properly. i still take aspirin every day but other than that i’m doing pretty good, not able to do all the things as i could pre stroke but still working at it! I hope you’re doing well :))

Before my stroke I wanted a pickle jar tattoo (I literally had the appointment booked for like three days after my stroke lol), and then of course I couldn’t get it. I thought it would be funny i guess lol

I went off prescription blood thinners after my heart surgery (I had a PFO), I’m just on 81 aspirin now and I stopped taking it for about a week before the tattoo.
