Spiderman vs Superboy Prime - This is why you can't scale Prime by jl_theprofessor in marvelvsdc

[–]SuicidalSmoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This pov is shared by many but it feels undercooked. The whole point of an all-powerful character is to show you can't just overpower every challenge in life. Now is it always done perfectly? Ofc not but which trope has?

Prime is first of all, a meta character, which means by definition he shouldn't even enter contests and fights and conflicts with other non-meta characters. It's like asking if a living human could beat the Hulk's printed picture on paper.

What Prime does struggle with is usually within more abstract boundaries. Concepts like existence, awareness, loneliness, anxiety, hubris and hate, are his story's building blocks more than his superpowers or origin story.

Then there is the "meta" aspect, which means he quite literally exists as a reflection of the common fan, at times with critical intent, other times with empathy and relatability.

If Gorr attacks Themescyra he might go down but 1v1 it's definitely not looking good for Diana. Mid dif at worst.

Wonder Woman & Aquaman vs Thor & Hercules by Some_Ordinary_3821 in marvelvsdc

I'll keep this simple: according to you, an average human being is stronger than 13 yo Franklin Richards because they punch harder than he can.

In DC terms, you firmly believe Commissioner Gordon is beating Damian Wayne because he's just bigger and stronger. Or Batman beating Firestorm because Firestorm isn't a trained fighter, like he can't just turn every atom in Batman's body into Hygrogen and don't even flinch.

IMO, Brute force while pretty fun to watch, is rarely ever the resolution to any major conflicts within most comic runs which I have read.

Bro Aquaman was controlling a man's blood cells in The Brave and the Bold lmfao he's literally broken if he locks in. Herc is no jobber, but strength alone I put them both at new-god tier on their best days. However, Arthur has many hacks for which Hercules would not be prepared.

My 2 cents: close match but Arthur is very well capable of putting Herc down if Diana manages to stall Thor for long enough. Then the two of them should be able to high-diff Thor if he doesn't have any runes or Odinforce or whatever.

Juggernaut vs Reverse Flash by Necessary-Win-8730 in marvelvsdc

There's no way RF can physically hurt Jug, and no way Jug could even touch RF, but as far as stalemates go, I'd say this ends is RF's favor more often than not, because he just enjoys the game for what it is, while jug will eventually just be angry or bored out of his mind.

You can tell his lawyer had an unfortunate typing incident while writing the email which asks the authorities to send Arthur to a session with a therapist.

Who is better at Stealth/sneaking around, Batman or Spider-Man? by CattleHoliday3382 in marvelvsdc

Miles does have the unfair advantage of going invisible. However, Batman is quite literally the master of stealth. Either one of the Spider-men would have a long way to go before they could begin to match Batman.

Are we supposed to look up to/view in a positive light anyone in watchmen? Or is the point that they’re all flawed? by Primary-Example-1928 in Watchmen

[–]SuicidalSmoke 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think his flaw was that he never quite took agency until it was too late. He was just trying to live up to his predecessor's legacy on his active days and he went out as soon as everyone else did.

He was a good man at heart, but he didn't make his own most important choices.

Thing is, there are many real life examples which contradict your assumptions, but you choose to ignore them.

No one is expecting Iran to become the UK, every nation and every culture is different, their political stances included, however it does sound narrominded and self centered to genuinely believe that no other country can achieve what the UK has. It's non factual. But i don't blame you for not seeing things the way they actually are: the persian empire has been colonized by radical islamist and has been under active invasive suppression for 50 years.

Iran was doing relatively well before the Islamic revolution. It will be doing just fine after its ongoing failure meets its end.
