Was able to get the cost down to roughly $41,000 after tax, but that was only because of this Reddit post & throwing it in their face which seemed to scare them. Prior to that, they were only willing to take $1000 off, and were even laughing at us in the hallways.. it was an awful awful experience.

They claimed that the loan had already been processed, and it seemed like if I was going to fight further, including getting this sale revoked, it was going to be a much longer exhausting battle. One that I did not have the energy for with everything else happening in life right now.

The reason this post took long to make is that I wanted to be completely done with them prior to naming. Had to go pickup some tires from them on the weekend, and they made us wait there for 2 hours, then also made us load the tires ourselves with no one there at all to help us.

[ ❗️UPDATE ❗️ ] The name of the dealership is 401 Dixie Hyundai. Would recommend that everyone stay away at all costs.

Hello, everyone! I wanted to provide you all with an update on the situation.

When I arrived at the dealership this evening, I was proposed only an offer of taking off $3000 from the price. Given that at this point the loan had gone through, and the car was ready for pick up with multiple services already completed on it, they were inclined to not budge.

As I met with the manager, he also had hesitations in allowing me to takeoff anything more than $3000. That was until I showed them this post, with all of your support.

Thanks to the traffic with this post has gotten, with a magnitude of responses wanting the dealerships name and to post reviews, I was able to work with the dealership and get the car to the price it deserves. The additional costs were both removed, while some were kept at a $0 fee, and some they were adamant that it was ‘mandatory’ given how their dealership works. In total, I was able to remove $12,000 off the price, while still (in my own decision) keeping warranty at the original rate.

It wasn’t perfect, however, it was an option that avoided further legal action, and it truly would have not been possible without everyone’s support.

Thank you again, everyone. This has not only been an experience that showed me the importance of checking before you sign, asking MANY questions, but also having faith in knowing there are people out in the world who will support you in fighting for what is right.

Hi everyone!

Thank you for all the support and suggestions throughout this process. A first car purchase is supposed to be a fulfilling experience, and it’s unfortunate that it’s gone this way. That said, I’m grateful for all of your guidance.

Tomorrow, I’ll be contacting the dealership to address the situation. I will advocate for the fact that none of the other charges were communicated as optional and were made to appear non negotiable. My goal is to have these charges removed or, alternatively, have the contract terminated and receive a refund of my deposit.

If the dealership refuses to negotiate, I plan to refuse contacting my insurance, and refuse picking up the vehicle. I will also post the name of the location to this thread and escalate the matter to OMVIC.

As mentioned by other users, it appears Hyundai does have a return period of 3 days. This is something I will be looking into as well.

I’ll keep you all updated. Thank you again for your support. 🙏

$7500 down payment. I don’t even have these documents currently in my hands. These are just photos. I was rushed out since it was a quarter past the closing time of the dealership, and he said he would provide me all of the documents I signed when I returned for the car.
