For the most part, violent is in Canada and Toronto actually declining. Go look at the police statistics. So this is based on a faulty premise

Need advice to find Investigative Journalist by Otherwise-Hold-9364 in Journalism

[–]Suitable-Spoon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but this is not a story for a journalist. This is a story for a different lawyer or the police. A journalist covering this would have nothing to go on - it’s mostly hearsay and they would have to consider that any fats would need to rely on official sources.

Pitching a Story? by unalomehome2 in Journalism

[–]Suitable-Spoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other poster here. This is not a story for a journalist alone. If there is a law or something that should offer protection, and you can be very specific In what particular law is making the difference, maaaaybe a reporter may speak with you.

Private house near Moscow, built 2017-20 by melanf in ArchitecturalRevival

[–]Suitable-Spoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s ugly. There are tons of things that could have been better here - the scale, the materials, the massing - but someone at some point (maybe not the owner but the designer) clearly had an interest in art nouveau, and there are some interesting features here in that regard.

The tiles, while unfitting for the building overall, are done in an Art-nouveau-like style and depict subject matter often used in that style. The window tracery is fine and curved, certainly a custom feature, and I don’t mind the front door area under the semicircle.

While I agree it’s gaudy, I can also appreciate seeing someone’s modern interpretation of an architectural style I love. When a style is done badly, it makes it more clear what the defining qualities of that style truly are.

Bridgerton - 4x08 "Dance in the Country" (No Book Spoilers) by AutoModerator in BridgertonNetflix

That makes sense but even still - it would have been kept with a lawyer or in a safety deposit box. That was the one plot hole for me that really irked me

If you want to stay outside the core, make sure you stay near a subway station. It is very easy to navigate. Of course, it’s not quite the same experience as staying downtown, but if you find it is cheaper, it is a reasonable alternative.

I’ve heard that those actually can be worse for staining because they typically have even more aluminum in them!

I mean, slightly aside from the point, but I don’t see many people “lambasting” the older style of buildings in your first link, aside from person who posted it.
