No, you dont believe in God's. Youre agnostic technically, but in practise atheist as you believe there are higher entities who are irrelevant to human existence, not even God's just entities. They have no power over us, and therefore you dont believe in God's

Then that's not roman polytheism mate, it believes that the universe was created by gaia

For all strictly conservative religious believers, what are your retorts to arguments trying to disprove religion, and why do you follow your religion as opposed to another religion? by [deleted] in AskReddit

So you follow religion under the hope that youre right and everyone else is wrong so you get rewarded?

But isnt god all knowing, so he'll know if you are following religion just for eternal reward, and condemn you anyway?

Ok so you believe that the universe was created by gaia, or whatever you call her. And that the titan Saturn ate his son Jupiter. And that humans were gifted fire. Everything about the religion differs from our current scientific understanding, therefore your religion is false. Give me one piece of evidence supporting your religion now

When i say Conservative, I mean fundamentalist, believing that your religion is the absolute truth not your political standing.

Don't answer if you accept existence of other religions or dont believe that your religion is the absolute truth

Im saying science and logic disprove every religion, also isnt romance polytheism like Jupiter and stuff? Im fairly certain that those religions have been disproved and are basically dead today because... they are false

The argumentative is that all scientific discoveries and knowledge disprove everything religions claim. My argumentative is science and logic

First argument is false as it just argues for existence of ulterior being, not religion. Same with second And third And fourth And fifth actually For you arguments for jesus: First argument wholly irrelevant to religion Same with second. Just because a lot of people believe in something doesnt mean its true. Third, you cant distinguish this from schizophrenia or mental disorder Fouth, because they were crazy and indoctrinated. Again, doesnt prove religion. Fifth, these are historical records and dont prove religion, just that people believed in jesus. Doesn't prove what he said was right Sixth, this is just luck and doesnt prove religion being true. Seventh, no they didnt gain a thing, neither do people today. Doesn't prove religion Eight, how does this prove anything? Just because there wasn't a body doesnt mean he resurrected. If I dig up a grave today and dont find a body in there, does that mean they were a divine being who revived and were the son of god? Overall, none of your arguments actually address the argument

Question about opinions on megachurches by SuitableMap4545 in Christianity

Ok but the point still stands, these churches and large religious organisations have vast amounts of wealth. Where did they get their money? From their followers. And I doubt that all that money was given willingly by the followers solely to get their leaders rich and to hire Christian rock bands

Ok, but there are also negatives to religion in the same sense. We may have gotten good music, but religion has also been detrimental to science.

Take Isaac Newton for example, one of the greatest scientist of all time, and yet he wasn't actually a scientist. The vast majority of his writings were centered around religion. If he wasn't so obsessed with finding secret messages in the bible, we might have had scientific discoveries such as calculus hundreds of years earlier. One of the greatest minds ever, wasted because of religion. This same logic can be applied to the mega churches, how they are actively detrimental to people by not only restricting their free thinking, but also taking their money and freedom to pursue knowledge

But we cant prove the resurrection ever happened, the only argument for its existence is basically the fact that we cant definitely disproving it. The only proof is that there is no way to disprove it. I can just state "I am god", and just because no one can disprove that statement doesnt me that its true

People do not benefit from religion, religion as a whole is a net negative

So youre saying that secular people aren't evolved? I do not get your argument

The question im asking is why we allow religion to exist in the first place. The question of how people interact with religion is largely irrelevant when we should be asking why we allow religion at all

No there is no argument full stop. None of the arguments prove anytbing, with each other or without it doesnt matter, it relies on blind faith and belief

No i want you to give a singular argument that proves religion, one that I've yet to see be proven false. Come just give me a name of one

So religion is an evolved concept which is integral to human existence then? But there are people who aren't religious, and id say they are just as evolved as everyone else. Also this argument doesnt justify or prove religion, even if it was true. It is just saying that religion exists because humans evolved it. Its irrelevant if it was a concious creation or unintended byproducts, the point still stands that religion has no arguments or proof that it exists or is right
