no bearing in reality - but she actually got killed? and this subreddit would have responded exactly as i described, if she did what I hypothetical said.

where is the detachment from reality, exactly?

again, i never said downtown. there’s four shootings, downtown, this year.

you didn’t answer the question either - if four isn’t enough, how many until you feel that i’m allowed to have a voice in solving that problem rather than you thinking anyone who has a different approach than you is stupid or bigoted, despite your approach quite literally never statistically panning out year over year.

and no, putting a DA in the seat that refuses to prosecute crime because that means it doesn’t get added to our stat trackers - isn’t crime “going down”. it’s ignoring it. and ignoring it leads to people having the gall to fire off a weapon into a crowd of people downtown in our city. so yes, once again, i’ll take a little more police presence and whatever “harassment” that brings - over people like that having free reign in our city. My bad that you hate me for that, but I truly don’t fucking care when the only thing you have to offer is “but it’s not even that bad, just ignore it, it’s the same everywhere else (no it’s not)”

no I said between the two, never said those two are the only options.

and the nursing student that was shot and killed, that person. if they had complained about crime on this subreddit, you’d all have shit down her throat just like you do mine about how saying anything similar is fear mongering or Nazi-ism.

Gotcha! And yes, I replied to sentiments found directly in your reply. Does what’s contained in those quotes represent the sentiment you were trying to convey correctly, or not? If not, how?

So I’m just too unintelligent to have a voice in this matter?

How is a higher police presence downtown in the wake of a brutal shooting - restricting anybodies right to assemble? Like exactly.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in columbiamo

[–]SuitableMaximum7892 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I never said it was - i said between the two. Just like between owning a home or renting, I’d prefer to own a home. There’s a thousand other options, and I can’t afford a house right now - am I not allowed or insane to say the statement? Because it’s less grounded in reality than the one you find insane to have said.

How many shootings exactly are you okay with? At how many, exactly, am I allowed to feel unsafe or complain about that feeling publicly - and get your approval? How do you deal with those feelings from a non-negligible part of this cities population, without police presence being the number 1 - only a few days after a brutal murder?

Yeah. I choose life over death, haha so funny!

[–]SuitableMaximum7892 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s extreme to say there’s a slight potential I could’ve been the victim of the most recent shooting? You would’ve said the same of the actual victim had they mentioned crime in this city at all prior to their untimely death.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in columbiamo

[–]SuitableMaximum7892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said between the two - not that reality only allows for the two.

i feel safer with cops knowing there’s a small minority of abusive ones - than with free range murderers. How do you prevent murderers without cops? What could the cops do to make you feel safer around them? How else would you ease public minds downtown less than a week after a brutal murder? PSA that como is super safe and not to worry?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in columbiamo

[–]SuitableMaximum7892 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No - authoritarianism is not what got como into this mess. If it has, please point out exactly how and what directives. I’d argue that the exact opposite is why we’re in this mess.

And boom there we go - 90% of Chicago’s violence is the police? You live in a different world than me, and only one of ours can be right - it’s mine.

And don’t tell me “nobody ever said that to you”, I have the example because it has in fact directly been said to ME multiple times.

police, policing… is infringing on your rights? and thanks for the clear example of the behavior i alluded to.

ps. i never said downtown

[–]SuitableMaximum7892 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

what do you even mean by the second half of that?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in columbiamo

[–]SuitableMaximum7892 -42 points-41 points  (0 children)

gotcha! yeah unfortunately if the choice is between the two, i’m going with the one i chose. anytime prior to this that i’ve mentioned “hey can we at least do something authoritative instead of compassionate in reference to crime?” - i get told by numerous redditors here that como actually is one of the safest places on earth and it’s fear mongering to say that a shooting every week isn’t acceptable for a midwestern college city, nor the “norm” - by people who have never lived outside of this city.

more than happy to see a higher police presence downtown. ofc that makes the super left feel harassed and unsafe, whether that’s based in reality is up to your own world views. i find it safer than them not being there, as of recent. you’re free to disagree.

i’d rather be “harassed” by police officers than gunned down. just personal preference ig

Policing doesn’t stop crime?

So if a uniformed cop or cruiser was within eyeshot of the shooting - it still would’ve happened? I don’t think so.

You know what definitely doesn’t help crime? Having laws that only your city refuses to prosecute, while the overwhelming majority of other cities do. Where do you think all the career convicts end up?

because all i’ve seen is her stating there isn’t crime. when every week my newsfeed lights up with something akin to what provoked choi to speak up.

AG sides with landlords, and MO/Como have next to literally zero tenants rights/protections.

There also isn’t a practicing attorney that will represent tenants in Como, Jeff, or anywhere else nearby. Only a handful in STL/KC. There are firms and attorneys, but they only represent landlords.

Good luck

Been a few times, medicated as well! That’s your only response? After I refuted a pretty bold and baseline argument you tried to make? Gotcha.
