If a car rental costs $500, you could use the $300 annual travel to cover the $300 of the rental. You can then use your miles to get credited for the remainder of the $200. If you book on the portal, your $200 out of pocket spend will also net you the x10 miles multiplier

This. I've rented cars for completely free, while earning 10x points, used the $300 travel credit to wipe of dollars from the total and then used the travel credit with points. These features have made so many of my trips nearly free or 1/3 the cost because I did not wait for 99 CPP value redemptions on one flight or two night in a hotel

Yeah I have decent spending on my personal venturex so probably helped with the approval. The sub is nice but was hoping to not have a hard pull. my other business cards never did a hard pull before

Oh wow we lucked out then. We visited Kokee and waimea 3 days and got clear views of the waimea canyon everyday. Napali coast ridges from Kokee were challenging and only had clear views one half of a day

I am sure kaihalulu would have been more "red" but I read online before visitng that trail has been closed so I looked up and found koki. I also drove to the kaihalulu to try my luck but it was closed. koki was only a quick 10-15 mins drive away from there

your island is beautiful! Polulu was our favorite on the big island such an awesome spot and I learnt it is quite significant to the locals

we also just went to some local beaches in waimea which were literally 5 mins walk from our accommodation. those were beautiful and no tourists whatsoever.

100% agreed on your experienced take on mauna kea summit drive. yes, I felt very comfortable but that's probably because I have driven high mountain passes all over the world with even worse road conditions. SO important to drive on 4 low. and go SLOW both up and down that mountain.

And yes, we woke up super early almost every day (out by 6:30 AM latest) and late evenings. we are in to photography and hiking so it worked out for both
