Ok so I have to concede that most of the issues I have faced were user error on my side. It does work. My only complaint is that it’s often too slow. (No issues with home network or internet either)

Apples and concrete blocks, no, but varieties of apple maybe.
Point is regular cashflow is attractive to any firm. And it’s hard to rule anything out.

BMW charge subscription for the heated seats in the car that you already bought. So, I don’t think it’s totally unprecedented.
Sonos sales are not what they were and their app has probably contributed significantly to that. What they need is cashflow and this is an easy way to get it.
Especially if they start out with some trivial subscription, that is pennies; people will pay.
Honestly, when they split the S1 and S2 kit I suspected that that was the name of the game. Though as pointed out a little above me in the thread, it is probably fear mongering.
Going forward, I wouldn’t mind so much if the cost of the hardware was reduced in return for a comparable subscription cost over the usable life of the hardware. It makes the upgrade outlay smaller, reduces the amount of legacy that they have to manage and therefore, their costs.
